Security Architect

NetBox Labs

**
USA
Full-Time
Posted about 23 hours ago

NetBox Labs builds NetBox, the open source network source of truth, and the cloud and enterprise products built on it. We're hiring a hands-on Security Architect: a builder unleashed by AI, who designs and ships the systems that keep our products, our cloud, and our company secure as we grow.

AI agents do most of the coding. You bring the judgment: what good looks like at scale, which outcomes matter, and when an agent's output is plausible but wrong. You own what ships and run it in production.

Most of the role is Applied AI: building the platforms and paved paths that let teams across the company build their own automations, agent workflows, and software, secure by default, with identity, data access, and cost controls built in. You'll also work as a forward-deployed engineer, embedded with teams to get their first workflows running and turn what works into patterns. Success looks like teams building and running their own workflows on secure, pre-approved paths without waiting on a security review, and patterns you built being reused well beyond the team that first asked for them. The rest of the role is security engineering, with a focus on turning security from a review step into paved paths that engineering uses by default.

You'll report to the Director of Security & IT and work with Engineering, Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Finance.

What you'll do

Make secure AI adoption the easy path

  • Build and run the platforms that let teams across the company build their own automations, agent workflows, and software on a secure path by default, with the guardrails built in: pre-approved tools and connectors, scoped identities and credentials, authorization on data retrieval, approval for consequential actions, audit logging, and cost limits.

  • Lead enablement so teams can self-serve: templates, starter kits, and reference patterns that make the secure way the fastest way to build, plus the guidance and support to use them well.

  • Work alongside teams outside Engineering on their first workflows, then turn what you build into patterns others pick up without you.

  • Set evaluation criteria and quality gates for agent workflows built on the platform, covering accuracy, safe use of tools and data, and how they handle failure.

Automate security into how we build and ship

  • Build security into the SDLC and PDLC: threat modeling, secure design review, code scanning, secret detection, and supply-chain and CI/CD controls enforced in the pipeline.

  • Automate product and cloud security reviews so coverage keeps pace with delivery.

  • Automate vulnerability intake, prioritization, routing, and SLA escalation so the team works the highest-risk findings first.

Automate Security & IT operations

  • Build access automation as code, with just-in-time elevation for privileged access.

  • Set multi-account AWS guardrails and reference architectures for identity, network, and data.

Run what you build

  • Own the services you build end to end: CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and incident response. You'll join the Security & IT on-call rotation once the systems you own alert on failure. Internal platforms are supported during business hours.

What you bring

  • 12+ years across security architecture, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise IT.

  • You've made architecture decisions that held up as companies grew, and you know what breaks first at scale.

  • You've recently built and run something other people depend on, by directing agents or otherwise: a product, a platform, or an internal tool. This role ships; it is not an oversight role.

  • You build with AI agents as your primary engineering tool. You specify the work, review what agents produce, and can tell code that runs from code that is secure and will hold up in production, across Python, Go, TypeScript, and Terraform.

  • You've shipped LLM or agent systems to production that people rely on. You can explain how you evaluated them, how they failed, and the controls they needed: tool and MCP governance, retrieval with access controls, approval steps, and cost limits.

  • You tie security work to product and business outcomes. You can explain the tradeoffs to an executive and hold your own in design reviews with senior engineers.

  • Deep AWS experience: multi-account organizations, identity, network security, and infrastructure as code.

  • Zero Trust and identity architecture in practice, for both workforce and services: SSO, user provisioning, device management, and privileged access.

  • Product security depth: threat modeling, secure design review, supply-chain security, and SDLC automation with code scanning, dependency analysis, and secret detection.

  • You default to delivering everything as code: infrastructure, policy, detections, and controls.

  • You think in platforms. You'd rather give every team a secure way to build than build everything yourself, and you know what makes a platform people adopt by choice.

  • You can work with a sales or customer success lead, find the real problem behind the request, and deliver a workflow they keep using.

Nice to have

  • Security architecture for a SaaS product.

  • A regulated or high-trust background, or experience with compliance programs such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001.

  • Multi-tenant SaaS security, including tenant isolation.

  • Experience building detections and monitoring for the systems you own.

  • Experience with a second cloud provider.

How we work

  • Small team. What you build runs in production and changes how Sales, Customer Success, and Finance work.

  • Work ships behind alerting and runbooks, and the people who build it share on-call.

AI Application Security Engineer

Brain Co.

**
UK, USA
Full-Time
Posted 2 days ago

Our Mission

Rebuild how the world works, to make institutions work better for the people they serve.

About Brain Co.

Brain Co. builds AI-native operating systems for large, regulated institutions. Each system is built for a specific industry, powered by agents that push real workflows forward. Underneath it all is Atlas, our proprietary platform that keeps customers in control, secure by design, and never locked into one model.

Why Now

Brain Co. is entering its next phase of production deployments on a national scale with an elite team built from Palantir, Google, Meta, and Nvidia, and a growing footprint across government, insurance, health, and financial services.

Joining now means shaping both the company and a new category of applied AI. Every project here ships to production and is expected to create measurable customer value and impact.

You'll work alongside exceptional peers on some of the hardest problems in applied AI. It’s the kind of work you'll still be proud of in ten years from now.

About the Role

As our Security Engineer, Application & AI, you will own the security of our products and application layer — secure development practices, agent security, third-party integration security, and data protection for AI products operating in some of the world's most regulated and sensitive environments.

This is a hands-on builder role. You will write code, ship security tooling, and work directly with product and ML engineers to build security in from the start rather than bolt it on after. You are expected to work AI-natively: using AI to write threat models, automate security review, scale code analysis, and build internal tooling. This is not a nice-to-have — it is how the role is designed to operate and how one person can have outsized impact across a fast-moving engineering organization.

Brain Co.'s products are built on agentic infrastructure — AI that takes actions, calls tools, and operates inside complex institutional workflows. The degree varies by product, but the underlying security surface is consistent: how agents are authorized, what they can touch, and how that is controlled at the application layer. This role is specifically designed to address that surface, working alongside the Infrastructure Security Engineer who owns the platform layer underneath.

What You'll Work On

Application Security

  • Own secure development practices across our products: AuthN/AuthZ patterns, secrets management, input handling, and secure-by-default standards that engineers can follow without security becoming a bottleneck.

  • Integrate security into the development lifecycle — code review, CI/CD pipelines, and pre-deployment checks — catching risk before it reaches production.

  • Conduct threat modeling across product features and release cycles, translating risk into concrete controls that ship alongside each product.

  • Build and maintain security tooling and automated checks that scale your reach across the codebase — using AI to move faster and cover more ground than manual review alone could.

Agent & Integration Security

  • Own the application-layer security model for Brain Co.'s agentic products — how agents are scoped, what they are authorized to do on behalf of users, and where trust boundaries sit between the agent and the external systems it touches.

  • Define secure patterns for how agents integrate with third-party systems and APIs: how credentials are stored and scoped, how responses are validated before being acted on, and how each product limits what agents can do with what they get back.

  • Work directly with product and ML engineers during feature development to define secure agent design patterns: tool scoping, permission boundaries, output validation, and safe handling of user context across multi-step workflows.

  • Build reusable secure-by-default patterns for agent development — design guidelines, review checklists, and code-level guardrails — so that security standards scale as new agent capabilities are built.

  • Produce security artifacts for agent features and product deployments: threat models, architecture reviews, and documentation that supports delivery into regulated customer environments.

Data Protection

  • Define and enforce data protection standards at the application layer — ensuring sensitive customer data (PHI, PII, government records) is handled correctly as it flows through AI pipelines and surfaces in agent outputs.

  • Build safeguards against unauthorized data exposure across our products: access controls, output filtering, and audit logging that make data handling attributable and reviewable.

  • Design secure data handling patterns for AI features operating on regulated data, working with platform and ML teams to ensure the application layer upholds its share of the data protection contract.

You Might Be a Great Fit If You...

  • Have 5+ years of experience in application security or product security, with hands-on experience on production systems at scale.

  • Are a builder first — you write code and ship security tooling, and see embedding security into the engineering workflow as the job, not a side effect of it.

  • Have deep fluency in application security fundamentals: OWASP Top 10, AuthN/AuthZ, secure SDLC, secrets management, secure integration patterns, and cryptography basics.

  • Understand the security surface of agentic AI across the product layer — how agents should be designed, scoped, and reviewed for risk — and can work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineers to build those standards in.

  • Have experience protecting sensitive data at the application layer: access controls, audit logging, and preventing data exposure through third-party integrations and AI-generated outputs.

  • Work AI-natively — you already use AI to write better code, move faster, and do more with less, and you bring that same instinct to security work.

  • Think in attack surfaces and trust boundaries and can move cleanly from threat model to concrete shipped control.

  • Are comfortable working alongside delivery teams shipping into regulated industries, understanding their constraints and translating them into product-level security requirements.

  • Thrive in high-agency environments and want to own and grow the application security function as the company scales.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with agent security, LLM application security, or building authorization and guardrail systems for agentic pipelines.

  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks relevant to government and healthcare: FedRAMP, HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001.

  • Proficiency in Python, Go, or TypeScript for security tooling and automation.

  • Experience with SAST/DAST tooling or integrating automated security checks into developer workflows at scale.

Why Join Us

  • Define what application and AI security looks like at a company building frontier AI for governments, hospitals, and critical industries — from the ground up.

  • Work directly alongside product and ML teams shipping agentic AI into some of the world's most demanding institutional environments.

  • Build the security function AI-natively — using the same technology you're helping secure to scale your own work and impact.

  • Work alongside senior engineers from Tesla, DeepMind, Databricks, and other top engineering organizations.

  • Ship fast, learn constantly, and see your work protect production systems used by millions of people.

  • Earn competitive compensation and meaningful equity in a high-growth company.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary plus equity

  • Daily lunches

  • Commuter benefits

  • 401(k)

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision

  • Unlimited PTO

An overview of this role

We are hiring a Staff Product Security Architect to join our Security Platforms and Architecture organization at GitLab.

Rather than operating as a purely consultative body, Security Architecture at GitLab functions as a hands-on technical driver. Our mission is to embed proactive guidance directly into modern developer workflows and automated coding environments, embedding security standards into the software development process from the outset. We strive to enable teams to deliver secure, resilient software seamlessly while minimizing reliance on manual security gates.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with product engineering organizations, spearhead architectural strategy for critical capabilities, and serve as the primary Security Owner driving risk reduction for key entries within our risk management framework. Your daily work will span architectural design reviews, technical prototyping, and establishing scalable patterns that enable engineering teams to execute autonomously.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with engineering and product leadership across GitLab, developing enough context in their domains to anticipate security problems rather than react to them
  • Lead security architecture and design work for strategic initiatives, and provide direction to the cross-functional teams delivering them
  • Identify, assess, and prioritise systemic security risks, and act as Security Owner for high-priority items in the Product Security Risk Register, co-executing remediation with the teams who own the code
  • Codify recurring security decisions into reusable artifacts — guardrails, standards, design patterns, skills, and reference threat models — delivered into developer and AI coding tool workflows
  • Build proofs of concept and prototypes to unblock engineering teams and shorten the distance between a security requirement and a working implementation
  • Conduct security architecture reviews for large or strategic projects, and coordinate with Application Security so that review coverage is comprehensive and correctly prioritised
  • Threat model new and existing systems, and establish the patterns that let teams threat model their own work
  • Work with Security Research on proactive exploration of unknown risks in GitLab's architecture
  • Anticipate emerging security challenges and propose architectural responses before they reach implementation
  • Mentor security engineers across the division, and represent security architecture to engineering audiences

What you’ll bring

  • Depth in application security architecture, including authentication and authorization models, privilege escalation, multi-tenant isolation, and trust boundary analysis
  • Experience securing distributed systems, including service-to-service authentication, secrets handling, and the failure modes of security decisions made across process boundaries
  • Working knowledge of software supply chain security: build and release integrity, artifact provenance, and dependency risk
  • A track record of proactive architecture work — identifying risk before it becomes an incident, and designing something that prevents a class of problem rather than an instance of one
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with engineering leadership and influence technical direction through expertise rather than gatekeeping
  • Experience defining security standards or patterns that teams adopted without being compelled to
  • The ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on, including reading unfamiliar code, building prototypes, and contributing changes
  • Clear written communication, and the ability to make a security argument to an engineering audience that does not already agree with it
  • A view on how security guidance should be authored and delivered for AI coding tools, not only for humans

About the team

Security Architects are a part of our Security Platforms and Architecture team, who address complex security challenges facing GitLab and its customers to enable GitLab to be the most secure software factory platform on the market. Composed of Security Architecture, Security Research, and Application Security, we focus on systemic product security risks and work cross-functionally to mitigate them while maintaining Engineering’s development velocity.

In FY27, we're implementing a new organizational model where each architect is dedicated to a specific functional area of GitLab's product, enabling deeper context, stronger relationships, and more proactive security guidance. As the Core DevOps architect, you'll be part of a team that includes architects focused on AI and the Sec Section, creating opportunities for collaboration on cross-cutting security challenges while maintaining specialized expertise in your domain.

  • Share knowledge, document decisions, and communicate security findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Who You Are

  • You are curious, collaborative, and comfortable making progress in an ambiguous and rapidly changing environment.

  • You have 3+ years of hands-on experience in security operations, incident response, threat detection, detection engineering, or closely related work.

  • You understand how analysts triage and investigate alerts and how detection quality affects their decisions and workload.
