We are looking for an experienced FCS Solution Architect / Technical Lead for a utility project with Liberty Utilities.
Location: Remote, USA
Duration: Contract to hire(Minimum 3 months)
Target Start Date: October 26, 2026
Visa: US Citizen, Green Card, H-1B

The project involves upgrading Itron Field Collection System (FCS) environments to version 4.7 and validating the solution before production deployment.
Responsibilities:

• Define the target solution architecture and technical design, including server specifications.
• Review the existing FCS environment and plan the upgrade approach.
• Assess compatibility with FC300 handhelds, Itron MC3/MC4 Toughbooks, and Bing Maps.
• Lead technical reviews, resolve design issues, and coordinate with integration and testing teams.
• Support QA environment planning and production readiness.

Required experience:

• Itron Field Collection System (FCS) and Itron Mobile Collection System.
• Solution architecture, system design, and technical leadership.
• System upgrades and technical troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of utility meter-reading operations.
• Familiarity with SAP integration is preferred.

• Project Overview:
  • Liberty Utilities uses the Itron Field Collection System (FCS) to support its field meter-reading operations, leveraging FC300 handheld devices and Itron MC3/MC4 Toughbooks used by field personnel. The current landscape includes FCS 4.3.0 for NY Water and FCS 4.5.3 for Liberty.
  • The field personnel has the FC300 handhelds and Itron MC3 / MC4 Toughbook at his/her truck. The field personnel uses bing map to display the street view and the route. Microsoft is ending support for that bing map version, effective 11/30/2026. So, the existing FCS environments will undergo a stepped upgrade to FCS 4.7 to continue bing map support. A new QA FCS environment will be established and upgraded to FCS 4.7 to validate the solution through Functional, System Integration Testing (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) before production deployment.
  • The upgrade scope also includes the associated FC300 handhelds and MC3/MC4 Toughbooks, along with the impact associated with the applicable Bing Maps version.

Job Description:

• Responsible for the overall architecture / design of the solution, including server specification.
• Key Responsibilities: Solution design, technical decisions, design reviews, issue escalation.
• Must Have Skills: Knowledge of Itron Field Collection System (FCS) and Itron Mobile Collection System with experience in solution architecture/design.
