We are looking for a Staff iOS Engineer to join the MyFitnessPal Engineering Team. Our users rely on the MyFitnessPal iOS app to power their health and fitness journeys every day. About the Team:

The Subscription Growth team is a highly visible and impactful team at MyFitnessPal that operates the core of our business’s revenue engine. This cross-functional team is responsible for handling all aspects of Premium subscriptions including: growth experimentation, subscription management, data analysis, and the enablement of premium touchpoints.

Impact: The Subscription Growth team plays a crucial role in driving MyFitnessPal’s revenue growth and sustainability. By focusing on the core elements of subscription management, this team ensures that our Premium services remain a key contributor to our continued business success.

Essential Duties:

• Growth Experimentation: Leading the team through a variety of experiments and A/B tests related to upsell opportunities, premium paywalls, and promotional offers
• Subscription Management: Overseeing the entire lifecycle of Premium subscriptions, from acquisition to retention, ensuring a seamless and satisfying experience for our customers
• Data Analysis: Leveraging data to gain insights into subscriber behavior, preferences, and trends, enabling data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement of our Premium offerings
• Premium Enablement: Innovating and enhancing Premium support throughout the app to enable other teams to work in the Premium ecosystem within their area of focus

What you’ll be doing:

• Work collaboratively with cross functional peers to solve the right problems as a team
• Build relationships with your peers across other teams to understand and prioritize widespread challenges in the iOS ecosystem
• Build strong cross functional relationships with Android, Web, Backend and Infrastructure peers.
• Research and implement high-quality technical solutions to attain business goals that will benefit our continually growing user base
• Provide thought leadership on industry best practices around design, testing, security, and deployment.
• Coach team members to increase the success of the team as a whole
• Make quick decisions that balance speed and stability on high visibility projects with rapid experimentation

Qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Have 8+ years of experience with iOS engineering
• Have actively contributed to and published iOS applications
• Mastery of Objective-C and Swift
• Mastery of iOS app building frameworks (UIKit, Foundation, etc)
• Extensive experience writing unit tests and testable code
• Extensive experience refactoring architectural patterns
• Experience with multithreaded programming
• Experience working with a relational database
• Have experience with automating the building and publication of iOS apps
• Take a pragmatic approach to solving problems

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with payments infrastructure or AppStore Connect
• Exposure to XP, Pair Programming, Mob Programming or other highly collaborative working styles
• Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD), Behavior Driven Development (BDD) or other practices focussed on building self verifying code
• Experience migrating a large legacy codebase to modern standards
• Experience migrating from Objective-C to Swift
• Experience contributing to Android, Web, or Backend applications

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at MyFitnessPal ranges from $160,000 - $210,000. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. The iOS Platform team sets the technical direction for iOS at Reddit. Our customers are primarily other engineers. It’s our job to help improve developer efficiency by providing libraries/APIs/frameworks, monitoring performance, building shared components, improving build tools, etc. In the codebase, we own the core components of the app such as the networking layer, persistence, and dependency injection. We set the direction in which the codebase builds by defining which design patterns and technologies to employ at Reddit.

This role will enable us to architect our iOS app to scale for the next 100M+ DAUs. They will help establish the right standards in iOS development and will help in improving the overall iOS development experience at Reddit. In addition, they will mentor senior iOS engineers across Reddit and will be seen as a go-to person for any challenges on iOS App architecture.

As a Staff Engineer in the iOS Platform team, you will be responsible for designing a solid foundation for our iOS application development. You will have the company-wide scope, impact, and responsibility in shaping the future of iOS development at Reddit. You will champion the technology selection, best practices in Reddit’s iOS application development. In addition, you will act as an architect for the iOS application at Reddit.

What You'll Bring

•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field—or equivalent practical experience at scale.

•12+ years of mobile application development experience, with deep specialization in iOS and a proven track record at the most senior levels of engineering.

•Expert-level mastery of Swift, with the ability to reason deeply about language internals, performance, and idiomatic design.

•A distinguished history of defining and delivering architecture for large-scale mobile platforms—setting direction across multiple teams and sustaining platform health over multi-year horizons.
