CCC Intelligent Solutions Inc. (CCC) is a leading cloud platform for the multi-trillion-dollar insurance economy, creating intelligent experiences for insurers, repairers, automakers, part suppliers, and more. At CCC, we’re making life just work by empowering more than 35,000 businesses with industry-leading technology to get drivers back on the road and to health quickly and seamlessly. We’re pushing boundaries with innovative AI solutions that simplify and enhance the claims and repair journey. Through purposeful innovation and the strength of its connections, CCC technologies empower the people and industry relied upon to keep lives moving forward when it matters most. Learn more about CCC at .

The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer - Agentic you will build the event-driven systems that keep claims moving for our customers, connecting our AI agents to the rest of CCC. When these systems work, claims move faster and the machinery stays invisible. Agentic coding tools are how you move fast. What you add is what they are worst at: distributed-systems design, correctness when things fail partway, and the debugging nobody else gets to the bottom of. You own a product area end to end and define the reliability bar it ships against.

Salary range is:

$180,000 - 225,000

This position is bonus eligible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the delivery of backend services, built in Python and TypeScript, from an ambiguous problem, scoped with product managers and data scientists, through production operation.
  • Build and operate durable, event-driven, multi-tenant systems in which agents run as steps inside deterministic workflows, designing their failure modes, replay semantics, and cost profile before they show up under load.
  • Own tracing and audit for your area: every model call and agent step recorded, so any recommendation can be reconstructed and cited back to its sources by on-call and auditors alike.
  • Own how claims automation data is modeled and managed across our relational, document, and graph stores. Ensure the security and isolation of sensitive data.
  • Author the design documents for complex systems to get feedback and buy-in, review other engineers' designs and code with the same care, and mentor the engineers in your area.
  • Raise the bar for how the team works with agentic coding tools: sharpen the specifications, instruction files, hooks, and permission policies they run under, and hold generated code to the same review standard before it merges.
  • Take part in a shared on-call rotation for the systems you own.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including an event-driven system you designed, shipped to customers, and ran in production.
  • Python and TypeScript at the level of setting a team's conventions, plus a background in a systems language such as Rust, Go, Java, or C#.
  • Strong computer science and distributed-systems fundamentals you use at work: concurrency, consistency, ordering, and how systems fail.
  • Event-driven systems built on a broker such as Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, or Service Bus that handle duplicate, late, and failed events without losing or double-processing work.
  • Data modeling and development across relational, document, and graph databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Neo4j, including when each type fits and the partition-key, consistency, and tenant-isolation calls you made.
  • Systems architected and operated on Azure or AWS, with CI/CD and infrastructure as code, and hands-on time with a durable workflow engine such as Temporal or the Durable Task Scheduler.
  • A clear account of how you constrain an agentic coding tool's context and verify its output, from daily use of Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar on production work, plus changes you turned back, and why.
  • Technical design documents you have authored for systems that span more than one team, used to get feedback and buy-in before building, and that those teams then built to.
  • Clear writing and discussion for technical and non-technical audiences: drawing out a customer's real problem and explaining the trade-offs back to them.

Even Better if You Have:

  • React and TypeScript experience, so you can deliver a full-stack feature end to end, especially chat, streaming, and citation-heavy AI experiences.
  • Formal methods or fault-injection testing, such as Lean, TLA+, or deterministic simulation.
  • Performance work below the application layer: profiling, memory, and concurrency tuning.
  • Familiarity with how AI agents reach their tools and enterprise systems, through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol, command-line tools, and microservices.
  • Exposure to the insurance, claims, or automotive repair domains.

What Success Looks Like:

  • In your first six months, services you built run in production against SLOs you set, and you can show they held as load grew.
  • You are trusted with the hardest correctness and scale problems, and you turn them into a design, a shipped system, and a number you can put in front of a customer.
  • You are energized by what agentic coding tools make possible. Your team ships more than its headcount suggests, and your specifications and reviews are why the output survives production.
  • You have a passion for systems that last: failures are designed for in advance, and when one happens anyway, the trace says exactly where.
  • Standards you set for reliability, reviews, and design documents outlive the project they started on.
  • Engineers you mentor ship reliable services without your direct involvement.
  • You enjoy getting a product manager, a data scientist, and a customer's team into one room and coming out with a single agreed scope, and you can argue a position without needing to win it.
  • You embrace our ambitious, collaborative, and empathetic values, and you like problems where the answer has to be measured rather than argued.

About Us

Thimble was an early pioneer in insurtech. We built a digital-first way for small businesses to buy coverage by the job, month or year, and have since delivered more than 200,000 policies across the United States. We started direct-to-consumer as an MGA, but today, we’re focused on growing through brokers and distribution partners, bringing the same simple, fast experience to the agents who serve small businesses. Thimble is still evolving and is at the front of AI-native distribution with MCP technology paired with API distribution.

In 2023, Thimble was acquired by Arch Insurance, part of Arch Capital Group Ltd. (Nasdaq: ACGL), an S&P 500 company providing insurance, reinsurance and mortgage insurance worldwide. That gives us something rare: the speed, ownership and culture of a startup, with the balance sheet, stability and long-term commitment of one of the industry’s strongest insurers.
For more information, visit thimble.com.

Our Values

Our unique culture is built around our six core values:

Think Wild, Act Tame

Be relentlessly creative. Question everything. Get to know the rules so well, you can use them in new ways. Be the industry’s compliant radicals.

Green Means GO

Act. Move forward. Learn. You can only make a decision based on the best information you have – so make it.

Own Every Detail

Be ruthlessly precise. Disciplined. Sweat the small stuff.
Simplify, Simplify, Simplify
Get to the point. Make it crystal clear. Cut everything else. It’s our job to make insurance easy – however hard that is for us.

Every Moment Counts

Show up early and ready. Deliver on time or before. Make the most of your time, so others can make the most of theirs.

Stay Human

Treat every person, and their ideas, with respect. Cherish diversity.

About the Role

Thimble is investing in the next generation of its platform, and this engineer helps lead that work. Our backend is built on Node.js microservices and event-driven architecture on AWS, and we are evolving it toward durable, explicitly orchestrated workflows, with AI-native tooling at the center of how we build.

This is a hands-on role: you’ll write, review, and ship production code every day, with AI agents as your primary build partner. You’ll also shape technical strategy and set the patterns the rest of the team builds on.

You’ll work in Node.js and TypeScript every day, so you need to be productive in them from the start.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and build the durable workflows and services that will replace our current event-driven flows, defining service boundaries, state ownership, idempotency, and retry semantics
  • Use of agentic coding tools on hard problems: setting up context, breaking down problems, and verifying output
  • Write and ship production code in Node.js and TypeScript every day, using agentic coding tools (Claude Code and similar) as your primary way of working
  • Define the reference patterns (service templates, shared libraries, code generators) that every rebuilt service follows
  • Plan and execute the migration in increments that keep production running, with tested rollbacks
  • Build and maintain the tooling around our AI workflow: MCP servers, evaluation scripts, and automated checks that hold AI-generated code to the same bar as hand-written code
  • Instrument services with metrics, alerts, dashboards, and tracing, and own production incidents end to end
  • Make targeted changes in our React and Angular applications when backend work requires them
  • Partner with product, growth, and other engineers, and contribute to code reviews and architecture discussions

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong backend engineering with production experience in Node.js and TypeScript
  • Hands-on experience building and operating distributed or event-driven systems, and a working understanding of how they fail
  • Experience using AI tools to drive a large code migration at scale (framework upgrade, service rewrite, language port)
  • Curiosity about agent harnesses, MCP, and A2A protocols; production deployment of agents is not required
  • Experience contributing to a migration or re-platform on a live system
  • Comfort reading unfamiliar code and data models and spotting problems in them
  • Enough frontend literacy to trace a problem from the UI down to the service layer
  • Clear written communication and comfort working in a remote, async-friendly environment
  • Bonus Points

  • Hands-on experience with a durable execution or workflow orchestration engine, in any language
  • You’ve built or contributed to an MCP server, an agent harness, an evaluation suite, or a multi-agent system, whether as a side project, open source, or an internal tool
  • Experience in InsurTech, FinTech, or another regulated industry in a similar environment to our tech stack

Thimbler Benefits & Perks!

-Fully remote company
-Thimble Fridays! (out of office at 12:00pm local time)
-Comprehensive health, vision, and dental coverage
-401(k) auto enrollment and matching (100% of the first 3% and 50% of the next 3%)

Find Your Talent (FYT)

Senior Software Engineer, Fulfillment Team

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Fulfillment Team, you'll own the core applications and algorithms that power our freight and Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) carrier network. You will design, build, and ship the critical backend systems that handle carrier profiles, fleet management, schedules, and onboarding workflows.

You will architect the core marketplace mechanics that handle automated dispatch, including matching shipments to carriers, scoring assignments, and managing the expiration of stale offers, across a high-velocity, real-time logistics infrastructure. This role sits at the intersection of complex physical constraints and highly reliable software.

You will integrate routing, pricing, and payout rules to ensure shipments are serviced on-time and financial pipelines remain accurate. This is a deep, hands-on engineering position with complete autonomy where you will debug production issues, ship API endpoints and database migrations, and reliably operate background jobs and event-streaming workflows in production.

You will partner directly with Product, Operations, Data Science, and company leadership to scale a fault-tolerant carrier domain that demands absolute precision and execution speed.

Why This Role

You'll join a small, tight, talented team of engineers that moves quickly, operates autonomously, and stays focused on shipping. You won't be a small cog in a massive system. You'll be the engineer shaping the application architecture and its direct business impact. If you're driven by mission, addicted to hard problems, and obsessed with financial precision, this is where you'll do the best work of your career.

Core Tech Stack

Based on current enterprise integrations and engineering standards, you will primarily work with:

  • Languages & Frameworks: TypeScript, Node.js, React, NestJS, BullMQ

  • Infrastructure & Datastores: Postgres, Redis, Kafka

  • Core Systems & Integrations: Payment processing, routing/optimization tooling, CRM, LTL freight carrier APIs

Upcoming Initiatives

The Fulfillment team's mission is to service shipments reliably and economically at scale, provide customers maximum visibility, and reduce the need for manual support intervention in case of delays and problems.

  • Delivery Appointments: Give customers more control and better visibility over delivery appointments — letting them choose window tightness and how it's set, pricing the appointment fee based on length and setup complexity, and allowing customers to make changes. Appointments are a top customer pain point and a major driver of support tickets.

  • Partner LTL Tracking: Improve and evolve integrations with LTL carrier partners (who each provide varying levels of tracking data) to show customers the most accurate, up-to-date tracking information and let them relay updates back to carriers.

  • AI Agents for Delay Mitigation: Much of the freight industry still runs on humans and phone calls, and carrier API updates are often delayed. Build AI agents that call carrier support teams to get updates and resolve problems when APIs lag, delivering fast, human-like service at scale.

What You'll Do

  • Core Carrier Infrastructure: Engineer, scale, and evolve the microservices and dispatch backend software powering carrier routing, automated matching, and the LTL network.

  • Lifecycle Architecture: Take highly ambiguous freight-coordination problem statements, map them to physical-world constraints, design the technical schema, and ship clean, extensible code.

  • Pragmatic Value Delivery: Maintain strict execution discipline — aggressively cut scope to deliver high-frequency, incremental product value over complex, over-engineered systems.

  • Domain Immersion: Deeply understand the physical-world nuances of freight mechanics, load boarding, and driver workflows so technical designs map cleanly to operational realities.

  • Stewardship & Reliability: Lead deep dives into system reliability, debugging, and data correctness; own continuous improvement, monitoring, and alerting for deployed services.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner across engineering, product, and operations to design high-leverage product workflows that stay fast and resilient under scale.

What You Bring

  • 4+ Years of Backend Experience: A proven track record building, scaling, or maintaining mission-critical backend systems in high-growth production environments where data integrity is non-negotiable.

  • Distributed Systems Architecture: Hands-on experience architecting resilient product infrastructure, microservices, and asynchronous event-driven data pipelines (Kafka/Redis).

  • Data Layer Mastery: Deep comfort with PostgreSQL — schema design, data modeling for complex business workflows, query performance optimization, production schema migrations, and concurrency handling.

  • System Design Fundamentals: You think naturally in data structures, state machines, race conditions, and asynchronous systems, and know exactly when and what trade-offs to make.

  • No-Ego Collaboration: Thoughtful communicator able to explain complex technical decisions clearly to both developers and business stakeholders, prioritizing team velocity and pragmatism over personal technical side-quests.

About the Company

The company is rebuilding freight for the on-demand economy, applying cutting-edge engineering to the complex, unpredictable physical world — linking sophisticated software with tangible logistics operations so code directly moves real-world goods and scales global supply chains. The Fulfillment team operates a high-velocity freight marketplace offering instant quoting, automated dispatch, and real-time visibility, turning complex physical logistics into modern software workflows.
