Responsibilities

As the Part-Time Supervisor you will:

Job Summary: The Supervisor will oversee day-today operations of the machine shop and develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, machining processes, tooling, and machine capabilities. This position is responsible of coordinating production times and staffing requirements to ensure on-time delivery for shop operations. The Supervisor will mentor, coach and train team members on best practices, machine operations, and overall operations. 2nd shift hours are 3:00pm - 11:30 PM from Monday-Friday
Responsibilities:

• Develop machine shop team to work efficiently, utilize best practices and machine operations to meet production deadlines.
• Oversee team production to ensure best utilization of resources and machine scheduling and quality output.
• Set up and operate CNC milling and lathe machines.
• Work closely with Process Supervisor to manage machine output and programming.
• Communicate closely with engineering team to develop best practices for manufacturability of parts.
• Enforce and follow workplace safety standards.
• Assist team members in other areas if needed to meet daily production goals.
• Assist in problem-solving and continuous improvement in the machine shop.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Associates degree in CNC machining preferred.
• 3+ years of CNC Programming ideally in FeatureCam.
• Knowledge of setting up and operating CNC machinery including both mills and lathes.
• Deep understanding of Fanuc machine controls.
• Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to safely lift up to 50 pounds at varying frequencies.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to work overtime as required.

We're hiring a Machine Shop Supervisor to run our 3rd shift team. You'll be the one steering the floor overnight: keeping the department safe, on schedule, and staffed right, while building real relationships with the hourly team and union officials you work alongside every night.

Machine Shop Supervisor Responsibilities:

• Run daily operations in the machining department, assigning tasks and setting the workflow for your shift
• Keep the shop safe and clean
• Set daily and project goals and staff work centers to hit productivity targets
• Push continuous improvement in how the department runs
• Coach and train hourly employees, and work through problems as they come up
• Keep information moving clearly between shifts
• Maintain strong relationships with hourly employees and union officers
• Handle performance evaluations, attendance, and disciplinary matters fairly and consistently
• Keep accurate timekeeping records

Machine Shop Supervisor Qualifications:

• High school diploma required 
• 3 to 5 years of experience in machining 
• 2 to 5 years supervising in a manufacturing environment, metalworking preferred
• Previous supervisory experience in a union environment
• Solid knowledge of machining fundamentals, equipment, and processes
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Journeyman Machinist or Tool & Die Maker papers a plus
• Two or four year technical degree in machining a plus

Machine Shop Supervisor Additional Details:

• Compensation starting at $80,000, plus a 10% shift differential for working 3rd shift
• Location: York, PA, onsite
• Shift: 3rd shift, Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Direct hire opportunity with full benefits
