Why join MicroSourcing?

You'll have:

  • Competitive Rewards: Enjoy above-market compensation, healthcare coverage on day one, plus one or more dependents, paid time-off with cash conversion, group life insurance, and performance bonuses.
  • A Collaborative Spirit: Contribute to a positive and engaging work environment by participating in company-sponsored events and activities.

  • Career Growth: Take advantage of opportunities for continuous learning and career advancement.
  • Inclusive Teamwork: Be part of a team that celebrates diversity and fosters an inclusive culture.

Your Role:

As a QA Tester – Agentic Web Application, you will own hands-on functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing for a healthcare web application that integrates AI agents, APIs, databases, background workers, and external systems. You will help ensure application quality, identify defects before they reach customers, and provide reliable test coverage while the US engineering team is offline.

  • Execute Test Plans: Create and maintain practical test plans, test cases, and regression checklists for new features, bug fixes, integrations, and production releases.
  • Validate End-to-End Workflows: Test application functionality across browser interfaces, APIs, databases, webhooks, background workers, queues, and third-party integrations.

  • Maintain QA Documentation: Establish a practical testing framework, such as a daily test tracker with pass/fail indicators, and submit a written summary of testing results, outstanding defects, and risks before signing off.

What You Need:

Non-negotiables

  • Prior professional experience in QA testing for production web applications, with strong functional, exploratory, and regression testing skills. This role requires an experienced QA professional who can work independently without junior-level training.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation and writing QA testing scripts using Playwright, pytest, or comparable tools.
  • Strong browser testing skills, including the ability to use browser developer tools to inspect network requests, API responses, errors, and application behavior.
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, concise, reproducible bug reports with expected versus actual results, supporting evidence, and severity.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code, or Cursor to generate test cases, develop scripts, analyze logs, and support defect investigation.
  • Near-conversational US English proficiency with clear, understandable speech to communicate effectively with voice-based AI agents through phone calls.
  • Ability to reason across user interfaces, APIs, databases, and asynchronous processes rather than relying solely on visible browser behavior.
  • Strong attention to detail, data integrity, privacy, permissions, and security in a healthcare-oriented application.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote setup and provide consistent QA coverage during the US engineering team's off-hours.

Preferred skills/expertise

  • Hands-on experience testing AI-driven applications, LLMs, conversational AI, voice agents, or tool-calling systems.
  • Experience testing asynchronous workflows, message queues, background workers, webhooks, scheduled jobs, retries, and event-driven systems.
  • SQL proficiency for validating application data and database states.
  • Familiarity with Python, Flask, HTTP/REST APIs, PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, Redis, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience with AWS services and CloudWatch logs, Docker, GitHub Actions, or similar deployment and monitoring tools.
  • Exposure to healthcare technology, electronic health records (EHR), FHIR integrations, or other security- and privacy-sensitive applications.
  • Experience with third-party integrations involving telephony, identity providers, CRM platforms, external APIs, and browser automation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot flaky automated tests, improve regression coverage, and develop reusable test scenarios with AI-assisted workflows.

About Peregrine

Peregrine Advisors is a rapidly growing AI and data innovation hub helping government solve hard problems and deliver better outcomes. We work across the full lifecycle—from strategy and governance through architecture, engineering, analytics, AI, visualization, and training—for clients including the SEC, PCAOB, DDOT, and DCAA.

Our clients describe our support as “absolutely excellent” and our people as “instrumental to organization’s success.” Winner of the United Nations COP27 Datathon, our work has earned all Exceptional CPARS ratings, SEC Chair’s Awards, the SEC Vision Award, and recognition from FDA leadership.

We are also built differently. Peregrine is the first and only social enterprise organized as a Benefit Corporation and SBA 8(a) company focused on AI and data for government. We believe business success should create client value, social value, and opportunity for our people.

As we enter our next stage of growth, we need dependable, motivated, and skilled people who have a combination of intellectual curiosity and intellectual courage. With new clients, larger programs, and expanding responsibilities, the people joining Peregrine now will have the opportunity to help shape the company we become.

People first. Ownership always.

We solve problems through people, process, and technology—in that order. Technology matters, but people make transformation happen. That principle defines our culture. Trust and motivation are the foundational pillars of delivery on which our skills stand. We hire people we can trust, who care deeply about what they do, take ownership, learn quickly, help one another, and refuse to walk past a problem because it belongs to someone else.

At Peregrine, you are not joining simply to fill a position. You are joining a team, taking ownership of a mission, and helping build a company. If that excites you, we should talk.

At Peregrine Advisors, you will make sure the application a federal agency relies on to process its filer applications works for the people who use it, testing it end to end, by hand and in code. But we hire people, not seats. As the work evolves, you will move to where the hardest problems are.

This is a remote position. The initial engagement requires United States citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination.

Your first project

Your first project will likely have you testing the application that carries a federal agency's filer applications from submission to decision, built in Python on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Depending on the assignment, you may:

  • Test the application end to end, following each submission from intake through document processing, review, approval, and audit history, across the user interface, the application programming interfaces (APIs) behind it, and the database.
  • Test user functionality by hand before each release: write test cases from requirements and user stories, work through every screen, user permission, and exception path a reviewer will meet, and report defects a developer can act on at first read.
  • Automate the checks worth repeating: build and maintain end-to-end, API, and regression suites that run in the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline on every build.
  • Validate the data and the controls around it: confirm with SQL that what a user sees matches the source document and the database, and test role-based access, permissions, and integrations such as identity verification and notifications.

You help prove that the system works for its users from submission to decision, in a regulated federal environment where accuracy and auditability are not optional.

This is where you start, not the shape of your career here.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of software quality assurance experience, including both manual and automated testing of web applications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • End-to-end testing of web applications across the user interface, APIs, and database
  • User functionality testing, with test cases, test scenarios, and expected results written from requirements and user stories
  • Functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Test automation in at least one framework, such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or pytest
  • API testing of REST and JSON services with Postman or comparable tooling
  • SQL for validating data in relational databases such as PostgreSQL
  • Testing workflow-driven applications: assignment, review, status transitions, approvals, exceptions, and audit history
  • Defect tracking and test management in Jira or comparable tools
  • Proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel

Preferred

  • Python knowledge or experience, including writing automated tests in Python
  • Testing document-processing or optical character recognition (OCR) systems: extracted-field accuracy, missing fields, and poor-quality scans
  • Testing applications deployed on AWS, such as Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, and S3
  • Running automated suites in CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions
  • Section 508 accessibility testing
  • International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) certification or comparable
  • Federal information technology experience
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted testing tooling

Who you are

You test what the user actually experiences, not only whether a screen loads. You follow a submission through every step to the decision at the end and ask whether the system read the document correctly, applied the right rule, and showed the reviewer the right information, and you know which checks belong in code and which need a person's judgment. You experiment, fail, learn, and repeat quickly. You would rather own an outcome than be handed a task.

What you bring

  • End-to-end testing craft: following a business process through every screen, service, and record it touches, and finding where it breaks.
  • User functionality testing that turns a requirement into the cases that would expose it if it were wrong, and explores past the script when something looks off.
  • Automation that earns its keep: end-to-end, API, and regression suites that run on every build and that the team trusts.
  • Data validation across the user interface, API responses, database records, and source documents.
  • Defect reports with steps to reproduce, expected and actual results, evidence, and severity, and clear communication with developers, product owners, and client stakeholders about what they mean for the release.

You adapt your development workflow as AI tools evolve, using them to help implement, test, and improve the components you own. You give the tools clear context, review and test their output, and remain accountable for the code you deliver.

When we talk

Be prepared to discuss a difficult problem you worked through, the decisions you made, what happened, and what you learned.

Benefits

This is a full-time W-2 position with a salary of $100,000 to $140,000 per year.

Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance with the employee premium fully paid and half of dependent premiums; employer-paid life, accidental death, and short-term and long-term disability insurance; a 401(k) with an employer match of up to 4% of salary; unlimited paid time off; and sponsored professional certifications and continuing education.

What we offer

You will work alongside developers, engineers, data scientists, architects, and strategists, on work ranging from strategy to implementation. We support your development across assignments and clients through extensive onboarding, sponsored professional certifications such as the Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM) and AWS technical certifications, and rotation across functions to expand your skills and perspective. The mission is real, the problems are hard, and you own what you ship.

What we commit to

As a Benefit Corporation, our commitment runs three ways: real, measurable value for our clients; government that works better for the public; and a team that makes everyone in it better.

We hire people who want to help build the firm, not just work at it. If that is you, apply.
