COMPANY DESCRIPTION: Forbright is a nationwide full-service bank and commercial lender focused on helping to build a brighter future for our clients and the communities we serve. Forbright is committed to exceptional client service by providing seamless, innovative personal banking services to depositors and creative financing solutions to visionary middle market businesses and investors in healthcare, technology, financial services, real estate, and other industries.
COMPANY CULTURE: We are a dynamic, high energy, fun, and fast-paced organization that has an exciting growth trajectory, meaningful mission, and embedded responsible practices into our daily interactions. We offer our team members a culture of collaboration, inclusion, flexibility, recognition, and giving back. We look to hire individuals that are passionate about our mission, and who are motivated, customer and results-oriented, innovative, adaptable, and thoughtful.
COMPANY MISSION: We are a mission-driven institution. We operate a sound dynamic institution that is well capitalized, liquid, profitable and uses best practices to manage risk and assure compliance with laws and regulations. We use Forbright’s capital, capabilities, innovation, and expertise to help our clients succeed and contribute broadly to building a brighter future.
JOB SUMMARY: The Senior QA Engineer is a hands-on tester responsible for writing, executing, and debugging tests across our digital banking ecosystem. This is an individual contributor role; however, it requires working closely with offshore QA Engineer - guiding coverage, reviewing work, and raising the quality bar of the whole team through your own example. This role builds and maintains automated test suites in C#/Selenium, executes manual and exploratory testing, and digs into failures to root cause. The Engineer partners with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Business Units.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Personally design, write, and execute manual and automated test cases across web, mobile, and API layers

    • Designed and executed backend test cases using custom SQL queries to validate complex business logic and ensure data integrity.

    • Build and maintain UI automation in C# with Selenium WebDriver, Playwright with JavaScript and API tests with tools such as Postman, RestSharp, and Swagger

    • Run automated suites, analyze results, and troubleshoot and fix failing tests - including flaky-test cleanup

    • Conduct end-to-end testing to validate business, technical, and functional requirements

    • Guide and mentor offshore QA analysts - assigning and reviewing coverage, pairing on complex scenarios, and coaching on standards and tooling

    • Serve as a technical point of reference for QA practices, helping define and continuously improve how the team tests

    • Write and maintain test data; keep test environments usable and dependable

    • Contribute test automation into CI/CD pipelines and help keep pipeline test stages green

    • Partner with QA analysts, Product, Engineering, Operations, and Business Units to ensure requirements are testable and quality expectations are aligned

    • Identify, document, and communicate defects, risks, and testing gaps clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders

    • Influence release readiness decisions with clear, evidence-based quality assessments

    • Evaluate and apply modern testing and AI tools (e.g., ML-based self-healing automation, prompt-assisted test generation) where they make our testing faster and more reliable

    • Ensure testing is executed in compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and policies

    • Provide regular, transparent status updates and meet testing milestones

    • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

    • Hands-on first: write test scripts, run suites, triage defects, test releases

    • Technical leadership without a reporting line: set the standard for how we test; mentor offshore QA analysts, review their test cases, unblock them, and bring order to ambiguous requirements

    • Influence through credibility: advocate for quality with Product and Engineering, push back when a release isn't ready, and make the case with evidence you gathered yourself

    • Ownership: own the quality outcome of the work you touch end to end, from test design through post-release validation

    • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree required; Computer Science degree preferred

    • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on QA/testing experience, including 4+ years actively building test automation. Candidates must be currently hands-on in code - this role writes and maintains tests daily

    • Proficient writing automation in C# with Selenium WebDriver

    • Strong hands-on API testing experience (Postman, RestSharp, Swagger)

    • Experience writing complex SQL queries

    • Experience integrating and maintaining automated tests in CI/CD pipelines

    • Mobile automation experience for iOS and Android (Appium preferred)

    • Working knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter

    • Exposure to containerization (e.g., Docker) for test environments

    • Experience with ML-based self-healing automation tools and/or prompt engineering for test generation is a plus

    • Demonstrated experience mentoring or technically leading QA team members, including distributed or offshore teams

    • Ability to lead by influence - earning trust with engineering and product partners and driving quality standards without formal authority

    • Experience in the financial services industry, preferably in a bank or other financial institution

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical partners and build lasting stakeholder relationships

    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

    • Outstanding problem-solving and time management skills

    • Self-motivated, self-directed, and results-oriented

    • Adaptable and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment

    • Can work independently and within a team; solution-oriented with a collaborative approach

The pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience. $125,000 (entry level qualifications) to $155,000 (highly experienced).

Compensation:

Chicago/National: $100,000-$135,000

SF/NY: $115,00-$150,000

Tempus AI is a cutting-edge clinical laboratory coupled with powerful automation capabilities. We continually strive to deliver quality results to our patients as quickly as possible. As a Senior QA Engineer, you will embed with one or more Agile Scrum teams to validate and continuously improve our in-house developed software. This is a hands-on engineering role: you will design and maintain UI, API, and data-validation test frameworks in Java and Python, wire them into CI/CD so they run unattended against every build. You will gain experience with modern test tooling, cloud-native delivery, and AI-assisted testing. Knowledge of genetic testing, molecular biology, or other scientific disciplines is a strong plus but is not required. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage in a positive and creative work environment that offers great benefits and opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate with your teams in Agile Scrum ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives; represent quality and testability from the start of a story, not at the end of the sprint.
  • Build and maintain automated tests for web UI, REST APIs and databases, and hold test code to the same standards as production code.
  • Own the regression suites for your applications: grow coverage, fix or remove flaky tests, and keep them running in CI/CD after every deployment and nightly.
  • Test for HIPAA and SOX compliance, including how PHI is handled, who can access it and what gets logged, and keep tests traceable to requirements.
  • Analyze test results and triage failures quickly: separate real product defects from environment, data, and test-harness issues, identify root cause, and drive resolution with clear, reproducible bug reports.
  • Validate scheduled night-time and off-hours deployments, and confirm post-deployment health in lower and production environments.
  • Participate in risk assessments, validation processes, and release readiness reviews; provide a clear, evidence-based go/no-go quality recommendation.
  • Maintain traceability from requirements and specifications through test cases to results, especially for regulated components.
  • Apply AI-assisted tooling responsibly to accelerate test authoring, failure triage, and coverage analysis, while remaining accountable for the correctness of every test that ships.
  • Mentor junior QA engineers through pairing and code review, and help internal users troubleshoot when needed.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in software QA, including 5+ years writing test automation.
  • Strong programming ability in at least one language used for automation, Java and/or Python preferred
  • Hands-on UI automation with Playwright or Selenium.
  • API testing with REST Assured, Postman or similar, including schema, contract and authentication checks.
  • Experience running tests in CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar), with reporting such as Allure.
  • Solid SQL (e.g., MySQL) and a careful approach to test data when it's regulated.
  • Experience with performance and load testing using tools such as JMeter, k6, or Gatling.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, HL7 and FHIR.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred

  • ISTQB/ASTQB certification.
  • Experience with AWS (ECS/Fargate, Lambda, S3) or Azure, and with Docker.
  • Experience in a regulated environment such as a CLIA/CAP lab, FDA, SOX.
