Job Summary

AI2IO is seeking a Product Owner to own the day-to-day product and delivery operating model for an Engineering Tools software development team. You will partner with engineers, designers, QA specialists, project managers, AEC practitioners, client-facing teams, and business stakeholders to discover meaningful architecture, engineering, and construction workflow problems, define valuable solutions, prioritize work, facilitate Agile delivery, and validate outcomes.

This role combines product ownership, requirements analysis, Agile facilitation, delivery coordination, and practical AEC knowledge. Project Managers own roadmap updates and integrated delivery coordination, Client Success Managers assist with stakeholder communication, and Product Adoption & Training partners own documentation, training, and adoption support. The Product Owner serves as the central source of product context, decisions, priorities, requirements, and outcome validation for the assigned Engineering Tools team.

Essential Functions

This role combines hands-on product ownership with practical AEC workflow knowledge and increasing responsibility for discovery, prioritization, Agile team facilitation, cross-functional coordination, and delivery effectiveness.

Own Product Direction & Priorities

  • Own backlog prioritization and work readiness for an assigned software delivery team.
  • Collaborate with AEC practitioners, users, stakeholders, and others to understand workflow needs and desired outcomes.
  • Translate AEC terminology, discipline-specific workflows, model and project-data needs, and business problems into actionable product work.
  • Evaluate competing priorities, risks, dependencies, and delivery constraints.
  • Ensure delivered work aligns with product goals, user needs, and representative AEC workflows.

Lead Discovery & Requirements Development

  • Facilitate focused discovery sessions with AEC practitioners, stakeholders, users, and subject-matter experts.
  • Create AEC workflows, user stories, business rules, acceptance criteria, and supporting requirements.
  • Identify assumptions, dependencies, model and project-data impacts, interoperability risks, and edge cases early.
  • Help the team understand the problem before committing to a solution.
  • Validate proposed solutions against intended outcomes.

Facilitate Agile Delivery

  • Facilitate Agile team ceremonies and maintain a healthy delivery process.
  • Help the team remove blockers and resolve delivery issues.
  • Promote continuous improvement through retrospectives and delivery feedback.
  • Maintain visibility into team priorities, commitments, dependencies, and risks.
  • Improve predictability, transparency, and team effectiveness.

Coordinate Across Teams & Functions

  • Partner with Product Design, QA, Engineering, Client Success, Product Adoption & Training, and Project Management.
  • Align stakeholders around product decisions and delivery priorities.
  • Coordinate dependencies, AEC workflow impacts, and data or interoperability considerations affecting delivery outcomes.
  • Ensure handoffs remain clear and product intent remains consistent throughout implementation.

Validate Outcomes

  • Participate in release-readiness activities.
  • Validate delivered functionality against approved requirements and representative AEC workflows.
  • Gather feedback after release and incorporate learning into future priorities.
  • Help ensure completed work achieves meaningful user and business outcomes.

Grow Your Product Leadership Capability

  • Take on increasingly complex initiatives involving multiple AEC disciplines, stakeholders, workflows, integrations, data exchanges, and business processes.
  • Develop stronger prioritization, facilitation, discovery, and delivery-leadership skills.
  • Build readiness for future advancement into Senior Product Owner, Product Management, or Solution Delivery leadership opportunities as ai2io continues to grow.

Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned

What Success Looks Like

  • Teams consistently receive clear, actionable, prioritized, and testable work grounded in practical AEC needs.
  • Product decisions reflect user needs, AEC workflows, business outcomes, technical realities, interoperability considerations, and informed tradeoffs.
  • Agile ceremonies produce alignment, decisions, learning, and improvement rather than administrative overhead.
  • Risks, blockers, and dependencies are surfaced early and addressed proactively.
  • Stakeholders understand priorities, decisions, constraints, and delivery expectations.
  • Cross-functional teams trust the Product Owner as a reliable partner.
  • Delivered Engineering Tools solutions fit practical AEC workflows and achieve intended user and business outcomes.

Position Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in product ownership, business analysis, Agile delivery, software product development, solution delivery, the architecture, engineering, and construction industry, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting a software development team in a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Scrum Master, Product Management, or comparable role, plus professional AEC experience and working knowledge of design and construction workflows, project delivery, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Experience translating AEC practitioner needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, requirements, and backlog-ready work.
  • Working knowledge of Agile and Scrum delivery practices.
  • Practical familiarity with Revit sufficient to understand user workflows, terminology, model-based coordination, and product impacts. Advanced Revit production, content creation, API development, or subject-matter expertise is not required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
  • Experience balancing user value, quality, feasibility, delivery risk, and business priorities.
  • Product Owner, Scrum, Agile, Business Analysis, or related certifications.
  • Experience with enterprise software, internal business applications, workflow tools, AI-enabled platforms, data-intensive applications, Engineering Tools, or digital-transformation initiatives supporting AEC users.
  • Experience with BIM, CAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, design automation, model and document coordination, or integrations among AEC platforms.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Microsoft 365, Jira, or comparable delivery-management platforms.

Why ai2io

  • Own meaningful product and delivery decisions that improve how AEC professionals work.
  • Work closely with talented engineering, design, and delivery professionals.
  • Influence how Engineering Tools for architecture, engineering, and construction are developed and delivered.
  • Build skills that prepare you for senior product and leadership opportunities.
  • Join a collaborative Microsoft-centric technology organization focused on solving real business problems.

Travel / Relocation Requirements

  • Up to 5%, this may include travel to any or all 50 US states
  • Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meeting for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc.
