Product Owner
Prometric
JOB TITLE: Product Owner REPORTS TO: Product Manager DEPARTMENT: Product Management LOCATION: Remote Job Overview Help bring AI to education and certification. Our team exists to deliver AI-centered features for the education and certification industry. As Product Owner, you'll lead and organize that work, turning product vision into a clear, prioritized backlog the engineering team can deliver with confidence. You'll sit between two groups of experts. On one side are the subject matter experts, educators and certification bodies who understand learning and assessment deeply. On the other are the AI engineers and scientists working with a technology that changes month to month. You won't need to be an expert in either; your job is to learn quickly from both, ask the right questions, and make sure each side understands what the other needs, so that real-world problems become features the team can build. You won't just execute the vision; you'll help shape it. Working closely with the Product Manager, you'll bring what you learn from users, experts and the delivery team to the roadmap for your area. About Us Prometric is a global leader in credentialing and skills development, building the workforce of tomorrow across industries and professions in 180+ countries. With more than 30 years of assessment expertise, we support organizations across the assessment lifecycle, from development through delivery and beyond. Main Duties & Responsibilities
Own and prioritize the team backlog: write user stories and acceptance criteria, lead refinement, and represent the team in PI Planning. Partner day to day with the engineering and AI science teams to deliver features in lean, iterative increments. Work with education and certification experts to understand their needs and turn them into AI powered features, making sure both sides understand the trade-offs. Help shape the roadmap with the Product Manager, drawing on user research, customer feedback and delivery data. Demo the product and communicate progress to stakeholders, users and clients. Support Product Line Marketing with product knowledge for launches.
Who You Are
You have a bias to action: you ship small, learn fast and iterate. You're curious and comfortable working with ambiguity. You move easily between the big picture and the detail. You communicate clearly and confidently with technical and non-technical audiences. You're organized and self-directed working remotely, and a strong team player. You're a fast learner who's comfortable not being the expert in the room, and you ask good questions.
Essential Criteria
2+ years as a Product Owner or Business/Product Analyst owning a backlog in an Agile team, including writing user stories and acceptance criteria. Regular hands-on use of AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude, and curiosity about applying AI to real problems. Experience working within SAFe or another scaled Agile framework. Comfortable with Azure DevOps, Jira and Confluence, with a working understanding of software development. Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
Desirable Criteria
Experience in education, assessment or certification, or working closely with subject matter experts in another specialist field. Experience with product discovery or user research. Experience delivering AI/ML-powered product features. SAFe Product Owner / Product Manager (POPM) certification.
