Mechanical Orchard

**
United States
Full Time
Posted 15 days ago
At Mechanical Orchard, we specialize in safely rewriting the most critical and complex business applications—the software that runs the world as we know it today—so they’re ready to adapt quickly and easily to market challenges and opportunities. Our approach emerged from observing the decades-long failure patterns in modernization efforts and is designed to eliminate the risks and disruptions that characterize most projects.
Our background in software development and the impact on the industry is well known: we've literally helped write the book on XP and other impactful Agile practices. We’re applying the same thoughtfulness and rigor in applying AI pragmatically where it helps. We believe in the durable principles behind Agile, and embrace the power of cross-functional teams, collective ownership, test driven development, short feedback loops, and continuous improvement.
We’re bringing joy to beleaguered IT teams everywhere. Together, we’re seeing how applying craft, expertise, and technologies we’re building can fundamentally transform the way companies operate, innovate, and win. Our values are: Do the right thing. Do what works. Be kind.

About this Role

We’re seeking a Product Manager for Imogen Data, the part of our platform that captures and manages data from legacy systems and turns it into a format that can be used to verify the readiness of modernized workloads before going into production. The Imogen Data team owns an early version of tools that are already deployed and in use with our customers. We need a PM to help us evolve this part of our platform from MVP to enterprise-scale, making it robust enough to succeed in environments at some of the largest and most well-known companies around the world.
Product Managers at Mechanical Orchard are dedicated to one team and work closely with a team of software engineers, as well as cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing and our forward-deployed engineering teams. They balance long-term strategy with tactical delivery and apply modern product thinking to problems that have resisted innovation for decades. They identify and mitigate risk through effective stakeholder communication, cross-discipline collaboration, and by providing clarity and focus for teams. They apply an entrepreneurial and iterative mindset to the complex and highly technical problems of legacy software modernization.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for

  • Defining the product vision and strategy for your team
  • Collaborating closely with our forward-deployed engineering teams as well as technical partners to deeply understand the product experience
  • Identifying and prioritizing product investments based on user needs and business goals
  • Partnering with engineering and technical leadership to define your team’s roadmap
  • Driving execution of the team's work in close collaboration with technical leadership
  • Representing your product internally and externally with executive stakeholders, technical partners and customers
  • Articulating customer value and benefits of your team’s offering and help position it within an evolving market landscape

You’re a good fit if you have

  • A Bachelors or Masters degree in a technical field
  • 4+ years in a product management role in a highly technical environment, preferably with strong exposure to data products
  • A strong technical background, ability to grasp technical concepts and establish credibility with engineers
  • Experience building products at enterprise-scale
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills and comfort with presenting to various audiences across seniority levels
  • The ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver high-quality product experiences on tight timelines and in line with our business aspirations
  • A bias for action - you’re not afraid to jump from writing a spec or story to talking to a customer or figuring out a new way to use AI tools to your advantage
People in this role will have a high degree of autonomy and responsibility, with frequent team-to-team communication and interaction with all levels of leadership.
Mechanical Orchard is a remote-first company, with employees working across time zones and locations. This role does not have a requirement for in-office attendance, but is expected to work hours that maximize collaboration with their team (specifics can be discussed during the interview process). There will be travel to company and team meetings, as well as customer visits (1-2 times per quarter, up to ~20% of the time).
Please Note: The appropriate role level and compensation will be determined at the time of offer, following completion of the full interview process, based on an assessment of the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and demonstrated skills.

A note on recruitment fraud

We have been made aware of scams in which people impersonate Mechanical Orchard to send fake job offers, interview invitations, and recruitment messages. Some use the name "Mechanical Orchard Staffing," which is not a company we operate. Some include our real office address to appear legitimate. We are not affiliated with these messages in any way.

Here is how to recognize a real message from us:

  • All communication from our team comes from an @ email address. We do not use any other domain.
  • Every open role is listed on our Careers page. If a role is not posted here, we are not hiring for it.
  • We never request a Social Security number, bank account details, or government ID before a signed offer and formal onboarding.
  • We never ask candidates to make a payment, deposit a check, or purchase equipment at any stage of our process.

If you receive a message using our name and something feels off, do not reply to it and do not click its links. You can forward it to so our team can look into it.

We’re Changing the PropTech Industry

We’re a profitable, growth-stage company building industry-leading martech and data products for the PropTech space. Our focus is on our category-leading AI and data SaaS products with triple-digit growth rates.

We’re a fully remote team of 100+ spread across the U.S. from coast to coast. We operate on a strict no a**holes policy and are proud to have built a community of highly performant people that take our work seriously, but not ourselves. And, we're looking for exceptional people to help further accelerate our growth.

While we’ve raised $30MM+ to date from some of the world’s best investors, we’re profitable with a strong balance sheet and an indefinite runway. We pride ourselves on achieving rapid growth without having to incinerate capital.

About Our Products

ApartmentIQ is the all-in-one data platform powering smarter decisions across multifamily—covering 40M units with daily property and market intelligence used for surveys, research, and revenue management. We're trusted by 65% of the NMHC Top 50. Our sister company, MavenAI, delivers AI-powered marketing automation built by industry experts and integrated directly with property management systems, serving over 2M units.

We’re looking for a Technical Staff Product Manager to own ApartmentIQ’s data platform, the foundation behind the market intelligence multifamily operators rely on every day. This role is for someone with a data science or analytics background who is as comfortable writing SQL and digging into a pipeline as they are setting product direction.

You’ll set the vision and roadmap for how we ingest, model, validate, and deliver data, working closely with data engineering, data science, and product teams. When something looks off, you’ll dig in yourself: run the analysis, trace the issue to its root cause, and turn what you find into fixes and platform improvements. You’ll also work directly with customers to learn how they use our data,

Responsibilities

  • Own the strategy and roadmap for the data platform, including ingestion, data models, data quality, and delivery to internal and customer facing products
  • Lead root cause analysis on data quality issues, anomalies, and metric discrepancies, and work with engineering on fixes that last
  • Define data quality standards, SLAs, and monitoring so issues are caught before they reach customers
  • Partner with data engineering and data science to scope technical requirements, weigh tradeoffs, and prioritize the backlog
  • Turn the needs of internal data users (product, analytics, data science, customer success) and multifamily operators into clear platform requirements
  • Define and track the metrics that measure platform health, adoption, and business impact
  • Evaluate data sources, vendors, and partnerships that expand the depth and accuracy of our market intelligence
  • Explain technical concepts clearly to non technical stakeholders and leadership

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of combined experience in product management, data science, or data analytics, including at least 4 years managing data products or data platforms
  • Background in data science, analytics, or a quantitative field such as statistics, economics, or computer science
  • A track record of root cause analysis on complex data issues, from spotting the anomaly to shipping the fix
  • Solid understanding of modern data stack concepts: pipelines, ETL/ELT, data warehousing (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, or similar), data modeling, and data quality tooling
  • Experience working closely with data engineers and data scientists, with enough technical depth to earn their trust and challenge assumptions
  • Ability to turn ambiguous, messy data problems into clear priorities and actionable product plans
  • Experience in a fast moving B2B SaaS environment; real estate, PropTech, or market data experience is a plus

Why Choose Us

  • Remote-First: We offer the freedom to work from home across most of the U.S. You’ll enjoy the flexibility of remote work, balanced with high-energy in-person offsites to build real connections and celebrate our wins together.
  • Competitive Compensation: We believe in hiring the best and paying accordingly. You’ll receive acompetitive salary that reflects your impact and expertise.
  • Paid Time Off: Take the time you need with our flexible vacation policy and dedicated paid parental leave to support you and your family’s biggest milestones.
  • Your Health Matters: Stay healthy with high-quality Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance plans for you and your family.
  • Peace of Mind (On Us): We fully invest in your security with 100% company-paid Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and Basic Life Insurance.
  • Protection for Your Whole Crew: Access supplemental insurance for the unexpected, plus specialized coverage to keep your pets happy and healthy, too.
  • Invest in Your Future: Secure your financial goals with our 401k Program, helping you build for the long term while you help us build the company.

If you need assistance and/or a reasonable accommodation in the application or recruiting process, please contact your recruiter.

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

We want to alert you to potential recruiting scams targeting job seekers. Please note that our company will never request payment, personal information, or any confidential details during the interview process.

Product Manager, Knowledge Graph, Education (12-Month Fixed-Term)

Learning Commons

**
United States
Full Time
Posted 29 days ago

Learning Commons aims to scale proven teaching and learning practices to benefit every learner by building AI infrastructure that better connects the way students learn to the tools they learn with.

The Team

At Learning Commons, we operate at the intersection of technology, research, and philanthropy. We pair product development with grantmaking to scale proven teaching and learning practices for the benefit of every learner. We aim to bring learning science into the tools educators and students use every day.

Our work is grounded in a deep belief: when technology reflects the realities of classrooms and the science of how students learn, it can meaningfully strengthen teaching and unlock new possibilities for students. The rise of generative AI offers us a once-in-a-generation opportunity to dramatically accelerate the translation of research insights into practical, classroom-ready tools; tools that honor teachers’ expertise, adapt to students’ needs, and make effective learning practices easier to access, implement, and sustain.

In today’s fragmented edtech landscape, school districts are often left piecing together products that don’t always align with curricula or instructional needs. While AI holds enormous potential to support teachers and students, it can only deliver on that promise when grounded in research, high-quality educational data, and expert evaluation. That’s why we’re building open, public-purpose infrastructure — datasets, rubrics, and resources — that help raise the standard for educational tools and create more consistent, impactful learning experiences for all students and teachers.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Product Manager for a 12-month fixed-term position on the Knowledge Graph team. As a Product Manager on the Knowledge Graph team, you'll help build the data layer for AI in education. AI tools for teachers and students are only as good as the data behind them — and the data they need sits scattered across incompatible formats, academic journals, and proprietary systems, so developers spend their time stitching sources together instead of building. The Knowledge Graph turns that fragmented material into structured, queryable infrastructure — connecting what students are expected to learn, the materials they learn from, and the research on how they learn best, all grounded in learning science.

This is a chance to shape a foundation that's still being built. As the graph expands into new subjects and kinds of data, you'll help decide what it covers and how much developers can rely on it, putting you at the center of how research-grounded AI reaches classrooms. It's a rare product surface — few roles combine data modeling, developer experience, and public-purpose education data in one seat — and it rewards a PM who likes to be hands-on and close to the details. You'll have real ownership from the start, with room to grow as the graph scales.

What You'll Do

  • Own datasets end to end — Take each dataset from acquisition and licensing through modeling, ingestion, and launch. Write the product docs that define the work clearly enough for engineering to build and ship without rework.
  • Partner with our users — Work closely with the developers and build partners who use the graph to understand their needs and where they get stuck, and spot opportunities for the graph to solve those problems. Help shape the API surfaces they build on, across the REST API and beyond.
  • Plan the work, short and long term — Use partner evidence to shape the roadmap — which data to bring in and how it should grow — and plan the near-term work with engineering so the team ships against a clear, current plan.
  • Work hands-on in the data — Open the source data yourself, run coverage and gap analyses, and verify what ships against the source. Decide how a new source maps onto the graph, when to reuse the model and when to extend it, and set clear, testable acceptance criteria engineers can build against.
  • Keep the cross-functional team aligned — Work across engineering, Trust, partnerships, tech writers, and marketing to move each launch forward and keep everyone working from the same plan.

What You'll Bring

  • 3–5 years of product management experience with a track record of shipping, preferably data products, APIs, or developer-facing platforms
  • Education or edtech grounding — You've built products in education or worked in the field, and you understand how curricula, academic standards, and classrooms work well enough to judge what developers serving schools actually need
  • Works well with deep technical experts — You partner with engineers and data experts as a credible peer: you ask sharp questions, pressure-test tradeoffs, and write up complex technical decisions clearly enough for developers to build on
  • Hands-on data fluency and modeling judgment — You personally open raw data files (JSONL, CSV), write queries (SQL, Cypher, or similar), and pull your own counts rather than delegating the check; you can reason about entities and relationships, sketch the nodes and edges for a new dataset, and tell a data gap from a modeling gap
  • Strong product sense — You understand what the people building on your product are trying to do and where they get stuck, and turn that into priorities

Compensation

The Redwood City, CA base pay range for a new hire in this role is $190,000- $238,000.
