Senior Data Engineer, Ads
Discord
Headquarters: Remote (U.S.)
Discord has a highly engaged community of millions of daily active users who use the platform for many different reasons, but there’s one thing that nearly everyone does: play video games. Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming, and we are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to hang out before, during, and after playing games.
Discord seeks a seasoned Data Engineer, focusing on our advertising product data. In this role, you will drive technical vision and strategy for ads data engineering in support of our ML initiatives while building and maintaining sophisticated data pipelines, datasets, and analytical tools. You will lead cross-functional initiatives to transform our advertising products through data-driven insights and mentor fellow engineers to deliver exceptional results.
This role works heavily with Data Science, Machine Learning, and product. If leading technical innovation, architecting scalable solutions, and empowering teams through data excites you, we encourage you to make a move!
What You'll Be Doing
- Design and own core ads data models: fact/dim tables, canonical datasets, and aggregation layers that power delivery, measurement, targeting, attribution, and ML use cases.
- Build and maintain the ML data that enables ads ranking, delivery, and targeting - including feature development, label generation workflows, intra-day training, and ML input observability to catch data quality issues before they degrade model performance.
- Build conversion measurement pipelines and integrate third-party attribution data - including Conversion Attribution and Mobile Measurement Partner (MMP) integrations (Adjust, AppsFlyer, Singular) - ensuring attribution accuracy and data parity across measurement surfaces.
- Build batch and near real-time pipeline infrastructure across the ads ecosystem - pushing toward lower-latency data for ML and reporting use cases on our BigQuery + dbt + Dagster stack. Partnering with Data Platform on launch and success of new data processing engines to support low latency requirements..
- Develop data quality frameworks, monitoring systems, automated anomaly detection, and SLA infrastructure for critical ads pipelines at massive scale.
- Proactively identify foundational data infrastructure gaps - including those with broad implications across ML, measurement, and reporting - and design scalable, canonical solutions that multiple teams can depend on.
- Build systems from scratch in a rapidly evolving, greenfield advertising data environment - making sound architectural decisions with incomplete information and balancing short-term delivery with long-term infrastructure investment.
- Drive alignment across Data Science, ML Engineering, Ads Product, and GTM teams through clear narratives that connect data infrastructure decisions to business outcomes and revenue impact.
- Mentor engineers through technical challenges, code and design reviews, and ownership of complex projects - contributing to the culture and engineering standards of the Data Engineering team team.
What you should have
- 5+ years of hands-on experience writing production code and architecting data pipelines with high-volume consumer data in advertising technology domains (ad delivery, ranking, targeting, identity, conversion measurement).
- Deep expertise in digital advertising data engineering - specifically in ads delivery, conversion measurement, attribution pipelines, or ML feature data infrastructure. Experience with Conversion Data and APIs, MMP integrations, or identity graph infrastructure is strongly valued.
- Demonstrated experience building data models in a greenfield or 0-to-1 environment where requirements change frequently, documentation is sparse, and architectural decisions are made with incomplete information.
- Expert-level SQL and Python. Strong ability to design performant, maintainable data models and write production-quality pipeline code.
- Proven hands-on experience with data quality audits, monitoring systems, and automated anomaly detection for massive-scale datasets (billions+ rows) - including quality frameworks designed for ML inputs.
- Strong technical communication skills with the ability to drive alignment, influence prioritization, and earn adoption from technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset and strong cross-functional instincts with experience building trusted working relationships with Data Science, ML Engineering, and Product teams.
Bonus Points
- Passion for Discord or gaming communities
- Experience with data visualization and dashboarding technologies (Looker, Tableau, or similar)
- Experience with designing data architecture to power a variety of use cases, including reporting (internal and external), adhoc analysis, experimentation.
- Working with Data AI tools to establish greater self service utility for your customers.
- Experience building near real-time or streaming pipeline infrastructure (e.g., Kafka, Spark Streaming, or equivalent) in addition to batch processing is preferred.
The base salary range for this full-time position is listed below. This position will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. An overview of this role
Reports to: Manager, Renewals
This is an individual-contributor, tactical role focused on timely, accurate execution rather than strategic decision-making. Solutions and outputs are reviewed by more senior team members and/or the direct manager.
What You’ll Do
- Manage an assigned portfolio of customer renewals tracking key dates and driving them to on-time closure.
- Have real, consultative conversations with customers throughout the renewal cycle to understand how they're actually using the product and where they're headed next.
- Identify and surface expansion opportunities — additional seats, tiers, or modules — that come out of those conversations.
- Probe for new use cases and unmet needs within existing accounts, connecting what customers describe to relevant GitLab capabilities they aren't yet using.
- Prepare and send renewal quotes, order forms, and related documentation accurately and on schedule, structuring them to reflect any expansion identified.
- Prepare and send renewal quotes, order forms, and related documentation accurately and on schedule.
- Analyze moderately complex renewal situations (usage trends, contract terms, pricing) by reviewing existing account factors, escalating anything unusual to a senior team member or manager and helping to mitigate any risk identified.
- Explain moderately complex renewal terms and issues to customers and internal stakeholders, working to build alignment.
- Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and Finance to help identify expansion opportunities, resolve blockers and keep renewals moving.
- Communicate proactively and transparently with customers and internal stakeholders, adapting to GitLab's communication framework.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in the CRM/renewals system for forecasting and reporting.
- Prioritize tasks with guidance from more senior team members to drive quality, timely results.
- Contribute to team goals by working collaboratively with peer RM’s.
What You’ll Bring
- Can execute basic renewal processes independently ("basic knots") and has been introduced to more advanced scenarios ("complex knots") such as multi-year deals, upsell-attached renewals, or non-standard terms.
- Developing understanding of GitLab's way of working, values, and high-performance culture.
- Awareness of GitLab's remote work best practices.
- Growth mindset and sense of ownership — proactively seeks out ways to learn and improve, and takes action rather than waiting for direction.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; comfortable managing many renewals at once.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow defined processes and frameworks while flagging exceptions appropriately.
- Collaborative mindset and openness to feedback and coaching from senior teammates and manager.
- The ability to travel for events such as trainings, team offsites, customer meetings, etc.
About the team
The Renewals team focuses on protecting and growing GitLab's recurring revenue by managing the full contract lifecycle for our subscription customers. As a Renewal Manager, you'll be part of a quota-carrying team that works closely with Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and Legal to ensure timely, accurate renewals and strong customer retention across regions in an all-remote, asynchronous environment. The team is responsible for forecasting renewal outcomes, identifying and addressing churn risk, and uncovering opportunities to expand GitLab adoption, while continuously improving processes and best practices that support predictable, sustainable growth.

Community Engagement Manager, Data Centers (Louisiana)
Anthropic
Headquarters: Remote-Friendly, United States
About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
Anthropic is building AI systems that will shape the trajectory of one of the most consequential technologies in human history. That work requires physical infrastructure at significant scale, and building that infrastructure the right way means being a real, long-term partner to the communities where we operate.
We are looking for a Community Engagement Manager in Louisiana to join our Public Policy team and serve as Anthropic's on-the-ground presence in the communities where our data centers are sited, built, and operated. This is not a communications role or a government affairs role, though you will do elements of both. It is a relationship role: your job is to make Anthropic a trusted, visible, and valued neighbor, from the earliest stages of site selection through construction and long-term operations.
You will be the connective tissue between Anthropic's Policy and Infrastructure teams and the local officials, community organizations, economic development partners, and residents who have a stake in what we build. You will surface concerns before they escalate, translate our technical and operational plans into clear local benefits, and build the coalitions that allow us to move quickly and responsibly. Because Anthropic's infrastructure footprint is still early in its growth, you will also help write the playbook: the processes you build in your first markets are the ones we will use as we expand.
You will travel regularly within Louisiana, up to 50% of the time, and occasionally to other Anthropic data center markets.
Key responsibilities
-
Build and maintain trusted, sustained relationships with parish presidents and councils, police juries, mayors and municipal officials, parish planning and zoning bodies, port, levee, and drainage districts, state economic development agencies, community groups, civic leaders, educational institutions, and workforce partners in the Louisiana data center markets you cover
-
Develop and execute a community engagement strategy for each of your markets, spanning site selection, pre-development, construction, and ongoing operations
-
Build external coalitions, host education and listening sessions, and design local solutions that deliver real benefits to the communities where we operate
-
Represent Anthropic in public forums, town halls, planning hearings, community events, and local media
-
Monitor community sentiment and local political dynamics, and advise internal teams on risks, opportunities, and the right pace and posture for engagement
-
Partner with the Real Estate and Infrastructure team to bring community input into how projects are planned, communicated, and delivered, not just how they are announced
-
Work with the Communications team to develop proactive, locally relevant messaging
-
Coordinate charitable giving, community investment, and economic development commitments in your markets, including managing nonprofit partner relationships
-
Partner with the Energy and Sustainability team to explain our approach to environmental stewardship and respond to questions about power, water, and land use, including flood risk, storm resilience, and how large electricity needs are served by local utilities
-
Build a community engagement playbook and repeatable processes that scale as Anthropic's infrastructure footprint grows
Minimum qualifications
-
Experience in community affairs, public affairs, economic development, government relations, local or state government, or a closely related field
-
Direct experience working for or engaging with parish and municipal governments and a broad set of community stakeholders on behalf of large infrastructure, construction, energy, or technology projects, with a working understanding of how local politics and community dynamics actually play out
-
A skilled relationship and coalition builder who earns trust with a diverse group of stakeholders, and who maintains relationships through difficult conversations
-
The ability to represent a company credibly in public settings, including town halls, hearings, and press interviews
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to turn a complex operational plan into plain language that a local official or reporter can understand and respond to
-
The ability to work independently, get up to speed quickly on complex policy issues, and manage multiple concurrent engagements across different markets without losing track of any of them
-
Based in Louisiana or willing to relocate there, and prepared to travel regularly across the state
Preferred qualifications
-
7+ years of experience in community engagement specifically on data center, utility, energy, or large-scale industrial infrastructure projects, or in local government
-
Familiarity with land use, zoning, and permitting processes at the parish and municipal level, including local review of industrial tax incentives
-
Experience in communities with a long industrial, energy, or port presence, and an understanding of coastal, flood, and hurricane resilience concerns
-
Experience managing corporate social responsibility programs
-
Established relationships with economic development, workforce, or civic organizations in the markets this role covers
-
Experience working with real estate, legal, communications, and policy teams at the same time
-
Experience engaging with Tribal nations in Louisiana, including familiarity with consultation processes and Tribal sovereignty
-
A genuine interest in the communities where you work, not just the projects you are managing
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.
Logistics
Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position
Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.
Your safety matters to us. To protect yourself from potential scams, remember that Anthropic recruiters only contact you from @anthropic.com email addresses. In some cases, we may partner with vetted recruiting agencies who will identify themselves as working on behalf of Anthropic. Be cautious of emails from other domains. Legitimate Anthropic recruiters will never ask for money, fees, or banking information before your first day. If you're ever unsure about a communication, don't click any links—visit anthropic.com/careers directly for confirmed position openings.
How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.
