1. Works from blueprints, drawings, process sheets, engineering change orders, and written and verbal instruction to inspect mechanically complex parts, subassemblies and assemblies against required quality standards (i.e., hardness, thickness, painting, plating, etc.). 2. Utilizes a full range of precision tools and special purpose instrumentation such as dial indicators, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines to measure dimension where tolerances may be exacting and parts are intricate in nature. Performs complex calculations to determine angles, tolerances, dimensions and other specified measurements. 3. Identifies defects and calculates defect rates against specified control limits. Inspects and tests parts, subassemblies and assemblies after rework, modifications or repairs to verify defects have been corrected and ensure continuity to drawings, prints, etc. 4. Devises alternative methods of holding and setting up work for inspection where existing procedures and tools cannot be applied. 5. Applies inspection stamp for acceptability of mechanical parts, subassemblies and assemblies. Performs final inspection prior to customer acceptance to ensure end product meets customer requirements. 6. Interfaces with engineering regarding technical issues and problem resolution. 7. May conduct quality audits to confirm processes are being accurately completed. May perform field return evaluations to ensure returns are repaired within quality guidelines. 8. May work with machinists or engineers to determine set up procedures or perform special evaluations as requested. 9. Assists in the training of lower level inspectors. 10. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Requires a High School or Trade School education and a minimum of four (4) years mechanical inspection or related machining experience. Must demonstrate a proficiency in trigonometry and geometry and meet applicable certification requirements per Company and customer standards.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Inspector for our client. This position is responsible for inspecting and performing configuration verification of MIDS-JTRS and MIDS programs to ensure conformity with the most current revisions, specifications, and quality standards.

• Inspect and perform configuration verification of MIDS-JTRS and MIDS programs to ensure compliance with the most recent revisions.

• Inspect electronic systems, assemblies, subassemblies, circuit cards, components, and parts for conformance to specifications.

• Interpret and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, method sheets, schematics, process instructions, engineering change orders (ECOs), and other assembly documentation.

• Examine the layout and installation of wiring, cables, subassemblies, hardware, and components to identify assembly errors or discrepancies.

• Perform conformal coating inspections using black-light scopes.

• Perform mechanical inspections using mechanical hand tools and measurement equipment as required.

• Inspect components, subassemblies, and assemblies against applicable quality standards, including IPC and J-STD standards, verifying items such as component orientation, masking, soldering, conformal coating, and overall workmanship.

• Identify, document, and enter defects into appropriate quality systems for tracking and future review.

• Inspect subassemblies and assemblies following rework, modifications, or repairs to verify that identified defects have been properly corrected.

• Interface with Engineering to resolve technical issues, including clarification of engineering change orders and other technical documentation.

• Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills

• Ability to read, understand, and follow process instructions, engineering drawings, and other technical documentation used to inspect components, assemblies, and subassemblies.

• Ability to effectively use inspection and measurement tools, including calipers, microscopes, gauges, and related equipment.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Proven ability to employ a customer-focused approach while achieving quality and production objectives.

• Ability to remain composed and effective in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within dynamic, cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills

• Soldering or solder inspection experience strongly preferred.

• Technical school or vocational training in electronics manufacturing preferred.

• IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification preferred.

• Experience with mechanical hand tools and precision measurement equipment.

Required Experience & Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• At least 3 years of relevant work experience.

• 3 years of experience performing quality inspection of complex circuit card assemblies is required.

• Experience working in an electronics manufacturing or quality inspection environment preferred.
