Our counseling team provides compassionate, high-quality counseling and therapy to patients that are seeking recovery from Opioid Use Disorder. Your Job as a Substance Use Counselor: The Substance Use Counselor is instrumental in our patient’s treatment and recovery from opioid use disorder. Substance Use Counselors provide high quality, compassionate care through various mediums which include both individual and group counseling sessions. Job Responsibilities: Provide high quality, compassionate guidance in both individual and group counseling sessions. Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient's recovery. Co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions as needed. Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment, and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner. Prepare individual treatment plans for each assigned patient. Initial assessments as well as follow up assessments. Evaluate patient needs and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed. May plan for aftercare for assigned patients. Provide crisis intervention to patients, as needed. Provide case management duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality care as needed. Act as a liaison between referral sources and patients, as needed. Check your eligibility here: HRSA Eligibility Qualifications Required Education, Skills and Qualifications: Associate's degree in social or health services field with 2 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency; or Bachelor's degree in social or health services field with 1 year of clinical experience in a health or human service agency; or Master's degree in social or health services field with a practicum in a health or human service agency; Degree must be from an accredited college or university. Preferred Skills and Qualifications: Previous experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings, such as outpatient, residential, or correctional facilities. Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone. Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions focused on substance use recovery. Knowledge of evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and relapse prevention techniques. Documentation experience, including maintaining clinical notes, treatment plans, and progress updates in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Familiarity with state regulatory standards (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission standards). Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary team with medical staff, case managers, and peer support specialists. Overview The Inpatient program at Southwood Psychiatric Hospital offers individualized care for children and adolescents ages 4-18 whose lives have been disrupted by severe mental health challenges. Southwood Psychiatric Hospital is the leading provider of care for children and adolescents who are struggling with a number of mental health concerns. Our Inpatient facility located in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, helps families start to heal so they can return to their daily lives. This is an acute level of care that typically includes a short hospital stay, during which a child or teen receives round-the-clock medical care and intensive therapeutic interventions. We are looking for a FT Therapist/Social Service Coordinator to work with our patients and their families. Southwood is not on public transportation line. Staff who work with our patients/residents must be at least 21 years of age. PURPOSE STATEMENT: Assess, diagnose and provide clinical services for those with behavioral health disorders Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Apply psychotherapeutic techniques and interventions in the delivery of services to individuals and families for the purpose of treating such diagnosed emotional and behavioral disorders. · Conduct a psychosocial assessment and develop an initial discharge plan. · Conduct individual, group or family sessions as appropriate for the treatment plan of the patient. · Provide initial treatment planning for patient based on assessment and coordinate any additional services needed, revising as necessary. · Maintain documentation of therapy services provided to each patient according to facility and professional standards and revising as indicated by facility or professional standard. · Maintain a caseload as assigned. · Participate in treatment team meetings and collaborate with other staff to facilitate services for the patient, as appropriate to their treatment plan. · May provide these services in an inpatient or outpatient setting. · May perform case management, discharge or after care planning as needed. · Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority. OTHER FUNCTIONS: · Perform other functions and tasks as assigned. SWOOD Qualifications EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: · Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or Human Services field required. · One or more years’ experience working with comparable patient population required. LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS: · Requisite state or national licensure for professional therapy providers or eligible for state licensure as a professional therapy provider. · CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility). · First aid may be required based on state or facility. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Conduct individual counseling sessions and group or family sessions, under supervision, as scheduled and document as required. May co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions and assist with modifying problem behaviors. May be responsible for initial assessments, as well as follow up assessment for patients. Assist with modifying problem behaviors and may also provide counseling services to families of patients. Act as a liaison between referral sources and patient. Provide crisis intervention to patient, as needed. May plan for aftercare for assigned patient. May act as a liaison with insurance carriers, as requested. May provide case management duties for patient, ensuring individualized quality care. Evaluate the needs of the patient and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities is needed. Qualifications EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in social or health services field from an accredited college or university preferred. Two or more years’ experience in counseling field is required; OR Bachelor's degree in other field required and; Four or more years’ experience in the counseling field; OR Master's degree in social or health services field required and one or more years’ professional work experience. LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS: Licensure or certification for counseling may be required by the state in which the facility operates. CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility). First aid may be required based on state or facility.
