- Proactively engage with organizations across different phases of their Kotlin adoption journey
- Develop and recommend high-level adoption strategies tailored to each organization’s context
- Identify and document blockers that hinder progress and propose ways to address them
- Establish and manage feedback loops with development teams to ensure continuous alignment and improvement
We will be happy to have you on our team if you have:
Technical expertise
- Extensive hands-on experience with Kotlin, Java, and the JVM ecosystem
- Proven experience migrating Java backend codebases to Kotlin
- Experience with the Spring (Boot) ecosystem or similar frameworks (e.g., Quarkus, Micronaut, Ktor)

- Reason clearly about code, architecture, and whole-system behavior even when AI is in the loop.
About You:
- You are kind, coachable, and excited to learn from senior engineers.
- You already use AI regularly in your engineering work and can explain how, when, and why

REDspace: Senior Software Developer - Ad Tech
Company Name
Headquarters: Canada
URL: http://redspace.com
About REDspace
At REDspace (REDspace.com) we’re a team of passionate innovators building cutting-edge software that powers some of the world’s leading brands. From video delivery and streaming to Adtech, cloud engineering, learning platforms, and custom web development, we help businesses solve complex problems and bring big ideas to life. Our clients include industry giants like Apple, Paramount, IBM, and Sony Pictures Television.
We’re proud of the culture we’ve built; collaborative, curious, and people-focused. We support each other, celebrate wins, and never stop learning. If that sounds like your kind of team, we’d love to hear from you.
Senior Software Developer - Ad Tech
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Software Developer to own the architecture of the systems inside our advertising organization and to help set our technical direction, not just execute it. You’ll influence the foundational decisions about how our ad systems are built and how they scale, step into complex implementations to stabilize and simplify them, and turn early client relationships into trusted partnerships through technical work that holds up.
Our teams build the systems behind more than 10 billion ad requests a day for high-traffic media & entertainment and news publishers – this is a demanding, hands-on role. You should have enough range across the advertising domain to architect across it, the depth to be the person other developers come to when performance and reliability are on the line, and the ability to move fluidly between a deep technical conversation with developers and a strategic one with product, bringing everyone along.
Scope of Impact & Autonomy:
- Your solutions are designed to have a positive impact on the entire advertising organization and the broader developer group, not just a single project.
- You own architecture decisions that are difficult or expensive to reverse, and you’re trusted to make them.
- You advise Directors and leadership on technical strategy, privacy and data-handling frameworks, and where we invest.
Requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
- Own the architecture. Design, build, and evolve the systems behind our ad stack. High-throughput, low-latency services where performance and reliability are the job, not an afterthought.
- Set technical direction. Influence the foundational decisions about how our ad systems are built and how they scale. Help set the direction, not just deliver against it.
- Untangle the hard problems. Lead the resolution of the messiest issues; real-time bidding bottlenecks, data synchronization drops, broken platform integrations and provide the breakthrough on work that has stalled for weeks.
- Partner with product. Work directly with advertising product owners to shape what gets built. Explain tradeoffs clearly, push back when something doesn’t add up, and propose alternatives – steering product thinking rather than just taking requirements and shipping them.
- Set the standard. Mentor developers, define what developer excellence looks like in practice, and hold the bar on code review and documentation.
- Advise leadership. Partner with our leadership team on long-term technical strategy and on the privacy and data-handling frameworks that govern how we work.
Technical Expectations:
- Deep, hands-on experience across the advertising domain — OpenRTB and Pre-bid, server-side and header bidding, bidstream enrichment (identity, audience, content, and supply-chain signals), ad decisioning, SSP/DSP partners, and video/CTV delivery including server-side ad insertion. You may not have touched every one of these, but you should have enough range to architect across the domain.
- Strong programming and architecture fundamentals that carry across stacks. Our projects span languages and platforms. We care less about any single technology than about your ability to apply solid fundamentals to whatever a project needs. The domain knowledge is the hard requirement; the language is not.
- Has built data pipelines and real-time systems at scale, and is fluent in the latency and throughput tradeoffs that come with billions of requests a day, including keeping enrichment and capture off the critical bid path.
