Role and Responsibilities:
As a Retail Department Manager, you will combine strong product knowledge with leadership skills to oversee your department and contribute to store operations. Depending on the store layout, you may be responsible for areas such as Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Gardening, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, Pro Account Sales, Tool Rental, Front End, Freight, Receiving, Associate Support, Special Services, or Merchandising Execution.
• Lead, mentor, train, and coach associates in assigned departments.
• Ensure customers receive excellent service and can easily locate merchandise.
• Provide recommendations and guidance on operational and merchandising decisions to management teams.
• Apply product and operational knowledge to enhance overall store performance.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Strong leadership skills to effectively train, coach, and develop team members.
• Comprehensive product knowledge within assigned departments.
• Understanding of store operations to support merchandising and department decision-making.
• Ability to maintain high-quality customer service and efficient department operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience supervising or leading teams in a retail environment.
• Familiarity with multiple departments in a home improvement store.
