The Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) is looking for software engineer intern who possess a passion for conceptualizing, building, testing and maturing autonomous systems. This position provides the opportunity to apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques in the software field to develop tangible, differentiated and meaningful solutions aimed at significantly enhancing the sustainment of complex systems and enabling future hyper-battlespace capabilities.
The selected candidate will be part of a range of projects during Summer 2026 which include short-term sprints (rapid prototyping) and long-term engagements (integration, maturation of prototypes). The team is focused on supporting major projects with a small, innovative core team, leveraging AI to create and sustain state-of-the-art technologies across several Lines of Business.
The selected candidate will focus on development, integration and test, spanning the complete system development lifecycle. This includes requirements generation, system and software , implementation, integration, and flight test. The candidate can be expected to be exposed to Artificial Intelligence, with opportunities for study, personal development and experimentation in this area. The candidate must exhibit self-motivation, a strong work ethic, time management and interpersonal skills.
Must be a US Citizen.
The candidate will be based in the Shelton, CT office, but may also work remotely.
Basic Qualifications:
- Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics
- Prior coding experience in Python
- Familiarity with Data Science libraries (e.g. Numpy, PyTorch)
- Familiarity with Software Engineering best practices
- Must be a US Citizen

The selected candidate will focus on the
development of simulation environments using
STAR.OS. This will require
engagement in every phase of the
software/system development lifecycle including
requirements generation, system and software
design, implementation, testing and integration.
Activities will range from low TRL research, proof
of concepts, rapid prototyping and transition to

have exposure to the latest AI paradigms in
generative AI and reinforcement learning (RL) to

Basic Qualifications:
- Working technical knowledge/use of AutoCAD or other CADD and the ability to read, understand and interpret construction blueprints.
- a demonstrated ability to produce design and construction statements of work in preparation for RFP/RFQ
- a demonstrated ability to produce RFP/RFQ documents and forms as it related to design and construction projects
- a demonstrated ability to produce, update, analyze and maintain an integrated master schedule (IMS) as it relates to facilities design and construction projects
- Proficiency with Bluebeam or other relatable collaborative PDF integrator tools
- Experience with a variety of construction
project delivery models models (Design-Bid-Build,
Design Build, CM-At-Risk, Integrated DB, Owner-At-Risk,
etc.)
- Experience with a variety of construction contract types (Firm Fixed, Cost Plus, Guaranteed Maximum Price, T&M, etc.)
- A demonstrated ability to produce a variety of construction cost estimates ranging from rough order of magnitude (ROM) to detailed quantity take off.
- Previous Experience with CMMS/IWMS tools as it relates to the day-to-day management of construction project management
- Experience managing multiple project efforts simultaneously in a construction management/project management environment.
- Ability to obtain Secret security clearance

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $95,000 - $167,440. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
