ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY Schedule/Hours: Part-Time. Schedule may vary based on operational needs and may include evenings, weekends, and special events. This position is responsible for: Maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for staff, visitors, and program participants at The Salvation Army Williamsburg Corps. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing facilities, maintaining building security, performing minor maintenance and repairs, supporting grounds upkeep, assisting with event setup, and ensuring the facility remains welcoming and operational. Key Responsibilities: Clean and sanitize bathrooms, offices, common areas, floors, windows, furniture, and fixtures. Empty trash, maintain storage areas, and ensure the building and grounds remain clean and orderly. Assist with building maintenance, painting, repairs, and light bulb replacement. Support grounds upkeep, including removing debris and assisting with basic landscaping needs. Assist with deliveries, donations, room setups, transportation tasks, and other facility-related duties as assigned. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials and equipment in excess of 50 pounds. Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, and other physically demanding activities. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, chemicals, and maintenance-related hazards. Description ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY Schedule/Hours: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM Monday – Friday (27.5 Hours per week) Pay: $13.75-$14.00 This position is responsible for: The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout The Salvation Army building and grounds. This position performs daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing restrooms, and replenishing supplies, while also ensuring trash removal and overall facility upkeep. In addition, the Custodian assists with minor building repairs, basic maintenance, groundskeeping, and event set-up. The role also includes responsibilities such as opening and closing the facility, ensuring safety and security, and providing support to staff and visitors as needed. By performing these duties, the Custodian helps promote health, safety, and a positive environment for all who use the facility. Key Responsibilities: • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation • Perform minor maintenance and repairs • Grounds upkeep • Facility operations support • Provide assistance to staff and public Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials, supplies, and equipment (over 50 lbs.) frequently. • Heavy mobility duties requiring frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, and reaching. • Ability to transport merchandise and supplies regularly. • Work may involve operating a vehicle. • Requires physical energy to perform housekeeping, maintenance, and groundskeeping tasks. • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat (above 100°) and cold (below 32°) for periods longer than one hour. • Exposure to environmental factors such as wind, humidity, and noise (requiring raised voice to be heard). • Work may involve hazards, including moving mechanical parts, vehicles, electrical currents, chemicals, high places, and high heat. • Duties are performed in environments that may require use of cleaning agents and equipment. • Conditions may involve physically demanding and repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
