Sign Language Interpreter
Navra
As a Sign Language Interpreter, your days will include:
- Provide sign language interpretation for a 20-year-old female student in a transitional program.
- Support clear and effective communication between the student, teachers, staff, and peers throughout the school day.
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, activities, and other school-based communication as needed.
- Collaborate with educational staff to support the student’s access, participation, and success in the transitional program.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate interpreting standards in the school setting.
- May provide additional paraprofessional support elsewhere in the program if desired; this is not required.
Job Details
- Position: Contract school-based assignment, ASAP through June 1
- Hours: 25 hours per week; signing schedule is 9:00 AM-2:00 PM
- Caseload: One 20-year-old female student in a transitional program
Successful Candidates Possess
- ISBE Approval or ISHHC credential required; no PEL is required
- Higher credentials may also qualify, including a Community license or EIPA score of 3.5+
- School-based or educational interpreting experience preferred
- The ability to work in the U.S. without a sponsor
- Note: new graduates may be considered

Sign Language Interpreter

As a school-based Sign Language Interpreter in Illinois, your days will include:
- Provide sign language interpreting support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students in school-based settings.
- Support students in mainstream educational environments across grades K-12.
- Facilitate effective communication between DHH students, teachers, staff, and peers throughout the school day.
- Collaborate with educational teams to support student access, participation, and success in classroom instruction and school activities.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate interpreting practices within the educational setting.
- Adapt interpreting support to meet individual student needs across elementary, middle, and high school environments.
Job Details
- Position: Contract, ASAP - June 2027
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Caseload: Four openings - two supporting DHH students in grades 9-12 in a mainstream high school environment and two supporting students in grades K-8 who mainstream into a neighboring school district
- Interview: Virtual interview with a typical 24-48 hour turnaround
Successful Candidates Possess
- ISBE approval for educational interpreting with an EIPA score of 3.5 or above, or provisional approval with an EIPA score of (phone number removed) (required)
- Appropriate Illinois approval/licensure for school-based interpreting (required)
- School-based experience preferred
- The ability to work in the U.S. without a sponsor
- Note: New graduates may be considered with the appropriate license/approval
