Team Overview
The Strategic Operations Director serves as the primary operational partner to the EVP of Enterprise Strategy, bringing business discipline, analytical rigor, and hands-on execution to the organization's strategic priorities. In this role, you will manage budgets, build processes, coordinate functions, and deliver results in a real operational environment. You accelerate the EVP's work by taking ownership of complex projects, conducting research and analysis, managing financial reviews, and infusing business-minded thinking.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Project Execution
Take full ownership of strategic projects assigned by the EVP, from scoping through delivery — including organizational planning, research initiatives, financial analysis, and operational design work
Develop structured analyses, frameworks, and recommendations on questions critical to the organization's mission and growth
Prepare internal briefing documents, strategic plans, business cases, and decision memos for senior leadership review
Conduct research and benchmarking on organizational, industry, and policy questions relevant to ADF's strategic direction
Coordinate with the Office of the CEO as needed to ensure strategic work products align with organizational priorities
Business Operations & Financial Management
Support the EVP in reviewing and analyzing organizational financials, budgets, and resource allocation decisions
Build financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses to inform strategic decision-making
Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend process improvements that increase effectiveness and stewardship
Bring business discipline to organizational planning, ensuring decisions are grounded in sound operational and financial thinking
Cross-Functional Coordination
Serve as a liaison between the EVP and other teams, facilitating alignment and ensuring follow-through on strategic initiatives
Lead or support cross-functional workstreams, providing structure, accountability, and clear communication
Synthesize data and qualitative inputs into clear narratives for senior leadership consumption
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Operations, Public Policy, or related field
7+ years of progressive experience in operations management, strategic planning, business management, or a directly comparable operational role
Demonstrated success as a COO, Operations Director, or equivalent in a small-to-mid-size organization
Hands-on experience managing budgets, building processes, and delivering measurable results
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a for-profit business in a competitive, growth-minded environment

Team Overview
As a Copywriter at ADF, you are a vital part of the Creative Services & Brand Team. In this role, you will report to the Managing Editor and are responsible for writing and shaping content to meet ADF’s fundraising and advocacy objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Write compelling, action-oriented marketing and fundraising materials to advance the strategic priorities of ADF across digital and print channels, including email, web, ads, direct mail, and more.
Act as a frontline brand manager by shaping the audience’s perception of ADF through written content.
Write in a conversational, simple, concrete, and personally engaging manner — quickly answering why readers should care about something or how it affects them.
Craft, review, and shape content, including emails, commentary, reports, resources, and other content to meet advocacy, fundraising, and communication objectives.
Stay up to date on new developments and trends in fundraising and marketing communications.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, philanthropy, nonprofit leadership or related field.
3+ years of experience in internet marketing and/or copywriting for web.
Strong fundraising, marketing, creative, and persuasive writing skills.
Skilled in taking complex information and boiling it down to powerful, engaging content that motivates people to act.
Understanding of writing principles and techniques for fundraising and marketing writing (including strong headlines, the use of hyperlinks, multimedia, calls to action, and other digital and search engine optimization (SEO) elements).
Ability to multitask with strong attention to detail.
Ability to think creatively, problem solve, take initiative, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications

Position Summary & Responsibilities: The Deputy Communications Director supports the Communications Director in developing and executing strategic messaging for SEIU United Service Workers West, representing more than 50,000 property service workers across California. This position helps lead day-to-day communications operations and manages campaigns that advance the union's organizing, bargaining, political, legislative, and member engagement goals.
Examples of Duties:
Develop and implement communications strategies for organizing contract, political, legislative, and issue campaigns.
Write and edit press releases, media advisories, speeches, talking points, newsletters, website content, emails, and social media.
Serve as a primary media contact and build relationships with media outlets and reporters
Manage digital communications, including social media, email communications, and website updates.
Help plan and execute press conferences, rallies, member actions, and other public events.
