In this role, the Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing most accounting activities, including P&L and balance sheet reviews, monthly close, internal controls, and overall accounting operations for the Water business unit. It is an exciting business with tremendous growth potential. This position plays a key role in ensuring the integrity of the business’s financial statements. The Accounting Manager will be an enabler of large process improvement initiatives and continuous enhancement of accounting processes and controls. The Accounting Manager will lead two staff accountants and the external business process provider.
Role Location: Role is hybrid in Deerfield, IL (Flexibility to work from home Mondays and Fridays)
What you will be doing
Manage the monthly close process including ensuring adherence to month-end close timelines, review of journal entries and account reconciliations, and P&L and balance sheet reviews. Partner with the internal controls department to ensure effective internal controls. Manage the external audit process. Ensure that an adequate system of internal controls is in place for the Water BU. Educate all sites on requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404. Work with sites to implement required controls, monitor ongoing compliance, and maintain documentation. Ensure that financial statements are prepared and reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Ensure that all transactions, assets, and liabilities are properly stated through review of account reconciliations and understanding of business transaction flows. Stay current on accounting statements and pronouncements and provide interpretation on their applicability to the company. Lead a team of accounting professionals in handling the above responsibilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required Requires 5+ years of total finance/accounting experience, including both public accounting (audit) and manufacturing industry. 7+ years of experience preferred Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley Controls PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
CPA or MBA is a plus. Experience with Oracle Cloud Products (EPM) and J.D. Edwards (JDE) is a plus. Organizational Savvy: Maneuver comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics. People management experience.
Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $90,000 USD - $143,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.

The Senior Auditor assists with project planning, scoping, and workpaper review activities, and participates in financial, operational, and IT audits as assigned. RESPONSIBILTIES:
