Position Summary:
The Production Assistant is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and processing raw colostrum upon its arrival at the Brookings plant.
This position adheres to a production schedule as instructed and ensures a steady flow of product is maintained at all times.
Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is a primary responsibility for the Production Assistant.
Essential Functions
• Receive raw colostrum shipments into the facility.
• Conduct visual inspections of incoming trucks to ensure they are in appropriate condition for the transportation of raw colostrum.
Confirm temperature readings are within required specifications upon arrival.
• Unload colostrum into freezer for temporary storage, taking care to rotate product such that older product is used first.
• Stage colostrum pails for thawing to ensure readiness for next day's batch.
• Conduct a visual and olfactory quality inspection of thawed, incoming raw colostrum and identify/reject containers that are assessed to be substandard.
• Pour colostrum into vat for heating and pooling of product.
• Clean, dry, and prepare empty pails and lids for shipment back to field employees.
• Take steps to ensure product loss/waste is at a minimum.
• Operate forklift to move product within the plant.
• Maintain a clean working environment at all times.
• Promote and comply with all safety standards of Sterling Technology to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned, such as bottling and labeling when needed.

Work Environment
