Position Summary
The Town of Breckenridge Transit Division (Free Ride) is seeking qualified and reliable individuals for the position of Transit Operator - Winter Seasonal. Individuals in this position are responsible for performing highly technical and skilled work as they serve the public and the Town of Breckenridge in a customer service-oriented and safety-sensitive role. The primary objective of incumbents in this position is to provide reliable, safe, and consistent public transportation service. The incumbent in this position shares in the responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the Town's public transportation system. The individual will be responsible for operating Town buses in such a manner to ensure employee and public safety, route & facility efficiency, and customer service excellence.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public and understand highway traffic signs and signals in English.
• Must be available and able to work through the Winter Seasonal period established by the Transit Division, typically ending in April. All interested applicants must be available for work through the established date, although all work schedules, and hours and dates of work are at the discretion of the Town and may be altered at any time.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills required.
ALCOHOL AND DRUG TESTING:
• Successful applicants are required to meet the Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing requirements, pass a pre-employment drug screen; have a clear Motor Vehicle Record, pass a drug and alcohol release from previous employers (if applicable), and complete a background check and reference check.
• The incumbent may also be subject to random drug and alcohol testing requirements. This position is considered safety sensitive (per DOT regulations), and operates Transit Motor Coaches in accordance with federal regulations on public rights-of-way as a regular function of their daily job duties. The illicit use of any scheduled drug (including marijuana) by a Commercial Driver's License holder is prohibited by federal law.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES REQUIRED:
• Valid Colorado drivers license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
• CDL B with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements or a higher class CDL with Passenger endorsement required at time of hire.
• Current Department of Transportation Physical card.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• One (1) year of customer service-related experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Additional Information
Hiring Pay: $29.00 per hour.
Full Pay Range: $ $38.62 per hour.
ABOUT BRECKENRIDGE FREE RIDE:
• Award-winning transit system.
• Local routes with no fares.
• Set schedule with consecutive days off.
• Starting pay for candidates with a CDL is $29.00 per hour.
WORK SCHEDULE:
• Requires ability to work various schedules that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed or scheduled at the discretion of management. The Breckenridge Free Ride Transit System operates 365 days per year, 7 days per week.
• Must be available and able to work through the Winter seasonal period established by the Transit Division, which generally extends to mid or late April. All interested applicants must be available for work through this date, although work schedules, hours, and dates of work are at the discretion of the Town and may be altered at any time.
• Full-Time, Part-Time, and on-call work status/schedules are available. On-call positions have the ability to decline a shift and are flexible, however there is no guarantee on the number of hours or shifts available in a week.
Generally, our work hours are:
Five - 8 hour shifts: Day shift reports in at 5:30 a.m. and works to 2:00 p.m. Night Shift reports in at 3:30 p.m. and works until 12:05 a.m.
OR:
Four - 10 hour shifts: Day shift reports in at 5:30 a.m. and works to 4:00 p.m. Night Shift reports in at 1:30 p.m. and works until 12:05 a.m.
The incumbent will also be required to adhere to the Hours of Service regulations for CDL holders. This regulation limits the total number of work hours per day and per week. This job would be the primary job and incumbents working in a Full-Time position are very limited in terms of their ability to hold a second job at the same time.
