As an Aide, you will be responsible for performing housekeeping duties throughout patient and public areas to maintain a clean, attractive, and safe facility. These areas include, but are not limited to, patient rooms, utility rooms, nurse stations, bathrooms, locker rooms, exam rooms, and offices.
A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. -- 3:30 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
• Perform housekeeping duties in patient and public areas to ensure a clean, attractive and safe environment. Areas include patient rooms, utility rooms, nurse stations, isolation rooms, bathrooms, locker rooms, exam rooms and offices.
• Empty, clean and reline waste baskets.
• Perform daily cleaning, high/low dusting, mopping, sweeping, spot cleaning, polishing and vacuuming.
• Wipe tabletops, phones, TV cords, and doorknobs.
• Replenish room supplies, such as toilet paper, paper towels, seat covers and hand soap.
• Transport trash from utility rooms and collection spots to pick up points.
• Assist in cleaning emergency situations that are observed or requested.
• Maintain arrangement of furniture in patient rooms, offices and lounges.
• Understand the proper use of chemicals, dilution, usage and measuring.
• Participate in and attend all in-services, become familiar with the employee handbook and understand policies and procedures.
• Accept and carry out assignments, provide coverage for laundry caregivers and perform other tasks as assigned.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Healthcare experience
Physical Requirements:
• Performance of job duties requires standing, stooping, bending and walking for a duration of an eight hour shift.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

• Assist with pre- and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients, applying/utilizing special equipment and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner.
• Perform treatment procedures (e.g., venous blood draws, enemas, application of ice packs and heat, non-sterile compresses, skin preps, setting up oxygen equipment, bed scale weights, sets-up overhead trapeze and Buck's traction, removal of urinary Foley Catheters and other therapeutic measures).
• Perform hourly safety rounds, anticipate patient needs and respond to patient call lights promptly.
• Prepare patients for meals, assist in feeding patients if necessary and distribute water and other nourishments according to patient needs in compliance with physician orders.
• Collect, properly label and transport specimens to proper area.
• Assist in keeping patient rooms in order, report equipment that is out of order, clean equipment and inventory and distribute unit linen and supplies.
• Report any changes observed in the condition or behavior of patient.
• Complete ongoing competency requirements, education programs and mandatory training to maintain certification and/or licensure.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period
• Job or educational experience providing basic computer knowledge and skills
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) Certification
• One year of recent acute care experience
Physical Requirements:
• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
