Job Summary: Under general oversight, the Lead Welder executes advanced welding tasks including MIG, TIG, Arc, and Acetylene techniques. This position is responsible for the construction, maintenance, assembly, and  alteration of diverse metal components, including fixtures, machinery, piping, and structural frameworks. Duties & Responsibilities: Schematic and Materials Knowledge: Establishes priorities for the shop; plans, assigns, inspects, and directs the work of shop weld team. Performs detailed calculations for time and material expenditures by forecasting labor hours and initiating material orders. Familiarity with various construction materials, their properties, and applications. Ability to interpret material specifications and select appropriate materials for specific projects. Training New Hires: Mentor and onboard new team members. Provide hands-on training related to construction techniques, safety protocols, and company procedures. Foster a positive learning environment. Ability to Work with Minor Oversight: Execute tasks independently while adhering to project guidelines. Demonstrate self-reliance and problem-solving skills. Seek guidance when necessary but maintain productivity without constant supervision. Working Conditions: Must be able to perform work with appropriate PPE for work (safety toed shoes, safety glasses, bump cap/hard hat, etc.) Majority of day will be spent standing with some bending and fine motor work appropriate for work in a fabrication shop. Ability to operate power tools such as drills, grinders, and saws. Some sitting and computer work is required. Some unassisted lifting up to 50 lbs. is required – nearly all heavy parts movement assisted with cranes/hoists and pallet jacks. Education/Experience/Background: High School Diploma/GED is required. A degree in Business, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field is strongly preferred but not required. 3 years of leadership experience, 2 of which in a supervisory or lead role, with a focus on assisting leadership and contributing to operational success. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Operational Knowledge : Comprehensive understanding of unit processes applicable to water and/or wastewater treatment facilities. Knowledge of: a) Water treatment processes (e.g., coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection) b) Wastewater treatment processes (e.g., primary treatment, secondary treatment, tertiary treatment). Systems Expertise : Preferred knowledge of: a) Electrical systems relevant to water/wastewater facilities b) Mechanical systems used in treatment plants c) Instrumentation and control systems for process monitoring and automation. Computer Skills : Proficiency in general computer applications, including: a) Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) b) Data entry and management systems c) SCADA systems (desirable) d) Computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Additional Desirable Skills : Familiarity with water quality testing and analysis techniques Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements Basic troubleshooting skills for equipment and processes Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics Required Certification/Licenses/Training: Class A or B Water License is required. Consolidate material from drums into roll-off containers for incineration. Reclaim vendor drums for recycling and crush drums that are not re-usable. Position Purpose: Performs a variety of customer service related work in mechanical, piping, controls and HVAC Chilled Water and Hydronic Heating Systems. The service work includes but is not limited to installation, repair and troubleshooting, and maintenance of customer equipment presently on Boston's District Steam System. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: Safety Follow all safety protocols including proper PPE for all tasks undertaken and ensure all others on site are also wearing proper PPE and following safety protocols. Perform Maintenance on Water, Sewer, Storm, and Street Infrastructure Systems Per direction from Operations Supervisor or the Project Manager perform regular preventative maintenance on infrastructure systems. Maintenance may include but is not limited to: Cleaning sanitary or storm sewer lines. Cleaning drop inlets and manholes. Reading meters. Performing lift station checks. Taking Chlorine Samples. Scraping and painting. Flushing Fire hydrants. Operating valves. Smoke testing sewers. General cleaning. Digging. Any other items assigned. Perform repairs to damaged infrastructure. Repairs may include: laying new water, sewer, and storm lines; repairing leaks; patching pavement; repairing manholes or drop inlets; replacing worn components; fixing signs and posts; and any other item assigned. Emergency Response Be willing and able to respond to emergency situations including but not limited to weather related events, pipe or lift station repairs, and/or other client requests. Diagnose and determine a plan for repairs to infrastructure when failure or damage occurs. Communicate the proposed plan and any information applicable or requested to the Project Manager or Operations Supervisor or their designee for approval. Perform and/or direct repairs on damaged infrastructure with the approval and/or direction of the Project Manager. Other Duties Communicate usage of inventory items to the Operations Supervisor and assist in efforts to maintain proper levels of spare parts inventory. Communicate with Operations Supervisor to facilitate creation of Work Orders for maintenance activities. Communicate activities completed with the Deputy Project Leader for inclusion in monthly reports. Emptying and cleaning portable toilets. Delivering chairs and signs. Emptying trash cans. Position Purpose: This position provides specialized transportation and disposal services to our clients. Responsibilities include manifesting, packaging, spill response, labeling, loading/unloading, coordinating transportation, and sampling/profiling material while adhering to state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. Primary Duties /Responsibilities: Loading and unloading drums and totes. Sample waste streams according to prescribed policies and procedures. Manifesting, packaging, spill clean-up response and remedial activities, labeling, loading, off loading, and coordinating transportation. Maintain a professional image to clients by answering inquiries and suggesting solutions to existing/potential problems. Comply and enforce all compliance, health, safety, and procedures in accordance with VES-TS policies. Become familiar with all U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT)/Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and VES-TS regulations required in submitting paperwork to expedite disposal of hazardous waste. Operate and maintain all equipment in a professional manner to ensure optimum efficiency and effectiveness. Other duties as assigned.
