The Metal Shop Technician will assist in fabrication and assembly of custom Switchgear structures of varying size and scope to meet client and product specs and prepare the same for shipment. Good understanding of machinery safety. Use hand and small power tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, drills as required. Must be able to read and understand blueprints. Infrequent travel may be required for install/service.
Schedule: Tuesday to Friday 4x10 schedule, 1st Shift
Accountabilities:
Assist with the handling of raw steel and copper. Assist in operation of metal shop machinery, including punch, brake, shear and saws. Weld sheet metal goods and prep for coating. Assemble metalwork and handle sheet metal goods. Follow blueprint diagrams. Be proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools. Fabrication, including saw cutting and drilling. May be required to cross train, supporting other sections of the Company. Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Experience:
Minimum 2 years in general mechanical or metal working or associated field. Experience in the use of hand tools and hand power tools Valid driver’s license (for service-related positions). Satisfactory completion of additional background screening (if applicable). Required Skill/Abilities:
Ability to read blueprints. Follow verbal directions to meet the production schedule. Ability to use ruler, scale, tape measure, calipers Possess basic tools including gear wrenches, impact gun, torque wrenches, metrics & standard sockets. High dedication to quality of results to avoid rework. Ability to work under pressure/time constraints. Able to work with minimal direction and achieve objectives. Preferred Skills:
Welding certification. Forklift experience and/or certification. Carpentry skills. Work Environment and Physical Demands
This is a FLSA non-exempt position and is paid on an hourly basis, where project requirements and tight client deadlines may require workweeks over forty (40) hours (including weekends or holidays) This role is based on the production floor. This position requires standing for extended periods, working around machinery, and adherence to all safety and compliance standards. Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs. Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up to fifty (50) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards. Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members.

The Metal Shop Programmer is responsible for creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs used to manufacture precision parts on the punch press. This role involves interpreting engineering drawings, selecting appropriate tooling, designing machining strategies, and ensuring that all punches operate efficiently, safely, and accurately. The Metal Shop Programmer collaborates closely with machinists, engineers, and production teams to meet quality and production goals.
Responsibilities:
Develop, write, and revise programs for the punch press. Interpret and analyze blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications. Determine machining operations, sequence, cutting tools, and speeds/feeds. Create setup sheets, tool lists, and work instructions for operators. Simulate programs and perform test runs to verify accuracy and safety. Optimize programs for efficiency, cycle time reduction, and tool life. Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and work-holding solutions. Troubleshoot programming issues and adjust programs as needed. Maintain organized program files and documentation. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve manufacturing challenges. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards (ISO, AS9100, etc. where applicable). Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Experience:
Minimum required education - High School Diploma. Associates degree or higher preferred, or equivalent experience in a related field. 2–5+ years of CNC programming experience (machines depend on company needs). Proficiency with CAD software. Strong understanding of G-code, M-code, and CNC machine operation. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, and technical specifications. Knowledge of machining processes, materials, tooling, and manufacturing best practices. Ability to interpret basic electro-mechanical diagrams including front elevation, one-line, manufacturing, and schematic drawings Required Skill/Abilities:
Familiarity with CAD modeling. Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement. Understanding of CMM reports and quality inspection processes. Manufacturing Environment with exposure to high noise levels, heat, dust, and fumes. Subjective to seasonal weather conditions (hot in summer and cold in winter months). Use of welding and cutting equipment, hand tools, and heavy machinery. Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. The Metal Shop Lead supports the Metal Shop Supervisor by coordinating the fabrication functions within the metal shop to support the assembly of custom switchgear structures. This dual-impact role combines operational leadership with hands-on technical execution to ensure all products meet precise client specifications and are prepared for shipment. The Lead is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, demonstrating mastery of machinery safety, and training or mentoring metal shop technicians. Success in this role requires the ability to interpret complex blueprints and a willingness to provide occasional on-site support for installation or service projects. As a non-exempt role, standard hours are 40 per week; however, flexibility is required to meet critical deadlines. This may involve overtime, including evenings and weekends, as necessitated by production schedules.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Team Lead Responsibilities
Operational Oversight: Partner with the Metal Shop Supervisor to oversee daily operations, ensuring all productivity, efficiency, and quality standards are met or exceeded. Project Management: Monitor and report project progress using established software and internal tracking processes to ensure deadlines are consistently met. Process Improvement: Proactively identify, propose, and implement enhancements to metal shop workflows to increase throughput and reduce waste. Management Support: Serve as the primary point of contact and provide coverage for the Metal Shop Supervisor during absences; assist with facility opening and closing procedures to ensure site security. Mentorship & Coaching: Lead by example to foster a culture of excellence; provide hands-on training and technical coaching to technicians to enhance their skillsets. Performance Insight: Monitor team output and provide substantive input to the Metal Shop Manager regarding performance evaluations and professional development needs. Talent Acquisition: Participate in the interview process for departmental vacancies and lead the onboarding and technical training of new hires. Resource Coordination: Coordinate overtime scheduling and labor allocation as needed to hit critical operational targets. Safety Advocacy: Conduct regular safety briefings and ensure rigorous adherence to all company safety policies and OSHA standards. Equipment Maintenance: Oversee and perform routine maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and ensure all machinery is operating at peak performance. Logistics Oversight: Coordinate the final preparation and staging of materials to ensure accurate and timely shipments. Metal Shop Technician Responsibilities:
Duties may include but not be limited to the following:
Precision Machining: Expertly operate metal shop machinery, including CNC punches, press brakes, shears, and various industrial saws. Welding & Finishing: Perform high-quality welding on sheet metal components and execute pre-treatment processes to prepare goods for coating. Assembly & Integration: Assemble custom metalwork, involving the manual handling and precision fitment of sheet metal, raw steel, and copper materials. Blueprint Interpretation: Read and accurately interpret technical blueprints and schematic diagrams to ensure all fabrications meet exact specifications. Tool Proficiency: Utilize a wide array of hand and power tools with precision to execute daily fabrication and assembly tasks. Core Fabrication: Execute essential fabrication duties, including specialized saw cutting, drilling, and deburring. Cross-Functional Support: Participate in cross-training initiatives to gain proficiency in additional skills, providing flexible support to other departments as operational needs evolve. Shop Stewardship: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace while performing other duties as assigned to support overall shop efficiency.

The Driver/Material Handler is a vital member of the Metal Shop team, responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials, components, and finished goods both within Mission Critical Group's manufacturing facility and between external company locations and vendors. This role supports the seamless flow of production operations by ensuring materials are accurately transported, organized, and delivered in a timely manner. The Driver/Material Handler is responsible for operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and company vehicles including box trucks, while adhering to all DOT regulations, OSHA requirements, and company safety protocols at all times. This position requires a reliable and safety-conscious individual who can manage both internal material handling and external transportation responsibilities with accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate communicates effectively with production, warehouse, and logistics teams to prevent delays and maintain an organized, hazard-free work environment. Responsibilities:
Internal Material Handling: Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, reach trucks) to move, stack, load, and unload materials, components, and finished goods within the manufacturing plant and warehouse. Load and unload trucks and containers efficiently and safely. Transport materials to and from production lines, storage areas, and shipping/receiving docks. Ensure accurate placement and organization of products in storage locations. Perform routine inventory counts and update records as necessary. External Transportation
Operate company vehicles, primarily (but not limited to) box trucks, to transport materials between company facilities and vendors. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, documenting and reporting any mechanical or safety issues. Adhere to all traffic laws, DOT regulations and company safety protocols. Maintain accurate delivery records, including time logs, mileage reports, and bills of lading. Assist with loading and unloading goods at delivery points, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage. Communicate effectively with logistics support, and internal teams regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays. Safety & Maintenance:
Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and OSHA requirements at all times. Ensure loads are secured properly before transportation.
