Due to MSG's continued growth, a new opening is available for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to assist with our projects in Maumee OH!
Lead mechanical design for facility and water/wastewater pump station projects, including process piping, HVAC, and equipment layouts. Develop detailed mechanical design packages, including plans, sections, details, P&IDs, and specifications. Perform pump and pipe flow calculations, system curve analyses, and equipment sizing for various process applications. Design and specify heat trace systems, insulation, and freeze-protection components for facility and outdoor installations. Evaluate and select mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, piping, heat exchangers, and mechanical supports. Participate in design reviews and quality checks to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline. 7–12+ years of mechanical design experience in facilities, water/wastewater, pump stations, or industrial process environments. Strong knowledge of process piping, pump systems, flow calculations, and mechanical system design. Proficiency in 3D modeling and mechanical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar). Experience designing heat trace systems and freeze-protection components. Understanding of relevant codes and standards (ASME, NFPA, IPC, AWWA, etc.). Ability to lead design tasks, coordinate across disciplines, and deliver high-quality construction documents.

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 1–3 years of experience to support the facility mechanical system design within our MEP team. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary engineers, architects, and designers to develop HVAC, plumbing, and other building mechanical systems from concept through construction. Technical Skill and Creative Spirit is our mantra. The right candidate shall be able to think beyond typical solutions and apply innovative ideas to produce efficient and thoughtful projects.
Assist in the design, layout, and modeling of mechanical systems including HVAC, hydronic systems, natural gas distribution and domestic plumbing. Develop construction drawings, specifications, sequence of operations and technical documentation using REVIT and/or AutoCAD and other industry tools. Familiarity with using Navisworks and/or Point Cloud scans. Perform engineering calculations, load calculations, and system sizing under supervision of senior staff. Collaborate with internal team members and external stakeholders (architects, contractors, clients). Conduct site visits, field verification, and assist with project assessments when needed. Support the preparation of cost estimates, reports, and project deliverables. Basic experience researching and applying relevant building codes, standards, and best practices (ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, State codes, etc.). Participate in project coordination meetings and contribute to design discussions.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline. 1–3 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the AEC or MEP consulting industry. Proficiency in REVIT Familiarity with HVAC fundamentals, thermal loads, and building mechanical systems. Basic understanding of building codes and industry standards. Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast‑paced project environment. Preferred Qualifications Exposure to sustainable design principles, LEED guidelines, or energy modeling. Experience working on commercial, educational, industrial, or municipal building projects.
