Position Summary & Objective
Machinist II is responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-precision components used in hydro turbines and complete turbine assemblies. This role involves interpreting engineering drawings, selecting appropriate tooling, and ensuring all parts meet strict quality and safety standards. The machinist monitors machine performance, makes necessary adjustments, and performs inspections to maintain accuracy and efficiency. Working closely with engineering and production teams, the CNC Machinist helps ensure reliable, high-quality turbine components are delivered on schedule.
Essential Functions Performed by the Position
Proficient in blueprint reading and understanding of geometric tolerancing Able to make all but the most complex component set ups on large VBM’s Able to edit programs for VBM’s Able to make all but the most complex components set ups on large HBM’s Keep Supervisor informed of problems regarding work piece, schedule, safety, etc. as they arise Able to edit programs for HBM’s Cleans up sweepings of machine tool operation scrap and collects in scrap/trash bins Able to set up feeds, speeds and judge cutter/insert condition to optimize machining operation for meeting surface finish and productivity Measurements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Required Education and Experience
Associate degree preferred High School Diploma or Equivalent Required Two years to four years’ experience as a CNC Machinist
Licenses or Certifications Required
Journey Machinist Preferred

What You'll Do
From design to production, we utilize cutting-edge digital technologies to help our clients achieve their product development goals. As a Machinist you'll be responsible for programming and operating a CNC machine to build tools using 3D models. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Machinist ensures quality is a priority each and every time while also achieving deadlines and customer satisfaction.
Your responsibilities will include:
Import, manipulate, and process 3D models
Machine steel with close attention to health and safety requirements
Use tools and machinery provided; program, setup and operate the CNC machine using Powermill and Lemoine software
Machine mold plates, components, cores, and cavities
Verify dimensions of machined parts using precision measuring instruments/probe to ensure first time quality
Complete checklists and report deviations from specified tolerances
Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs using provided paper and/or electronic logs
Assist in the repair of machine tools and parts, as needed
Maintain safe operations by keeping work area clean and organized and by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
Maintain the equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, initiating repair work orders, etc.
Participate in required meetings and training, as requested
What You Bring
Five (5) years of related experience operating CNC
Five (5) years' experience programming CNC machines (Lemoine and Power Mill software is preferred)
Ability to perform under pressure and work independently
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines as required
Ability to ensure quality standards are met
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
Ability to climb stairs and work in a manufacturing environment
Comfortable working around varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, and other manufacturing conditions
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other protective equipment as required
