About a Teacher Position at Brooklyn Lab A teacher at Brooklyn LAB is mission-driven and responsible for delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that prepares students for success in college, career, and life. In alignment with Brooklyn LAB’s commitment to college persistence and opportunity for historically underserved students, this role creates a structured, engaging classroom environment where adolescents are challenged academically, supported socially and emotionally, and held to consistently high expectations.   A BK Lab teacher designs thoughtful lessons, uses data to inform instruction, and provides timely, actionable feedback to ensure student growth and mastery of content. Beyond academics, a Brooklyn LAB teacher is committed to students’ holistic development. They mentor, advocate, and guide students through challenges, helping them navigate opportunities and obstacles both in school and in their broader lives. Through strong relationships with students and families, collaboration with colleagues, and reinforcement of school-wide systems and norms, they contribute to a safe, inclusive, and achievement-oriented community where all students are empowered to thrive beyond high school. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide instruction utilizing rigorous lessons aligned with the Common Core. Commit to internalizing the provided curriculum to prepare every student for high school graduation and success in a four-year college or university Facilitate student learning and differentiation, and embody our ‘inclusion for all’ model by utilizing differentiation and small group instruction to get results Utilize formative and summative assessments to inform and improve instruction. Lead and own the results of advisories that target the social-emotional needs of our scholars QUALIFICATIONS A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Biomedicine, Science Education, or Secondary Education with a Science focus; Master’s Degree preferred Certification to teach in New York State At least 2 years of high school level teaching experience; with experience teaching in urban and/or low-income areas preferred A proven record of academic achievement as a student and an educator Commitment to LAB’s mission and vision for excellence A growth mindset and the ability to work as part of a team Comfort with accountability and the ability to absorb feedback for the development of your craft and the scholars in your care Whenever possible, LAB seeks to hire teachers certified in Special Education and/or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, in addition to the specific subject they will teach, to provide additional support to students with special needs and/or limited English proficiency. COMPENSATION The salary range for this position is $67,000 - $104,000, commensurate with experience and education. TITLE: AP BIOLOGY TEACHER REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL Primary Purpose: The American Baccalaureate School (ABS) is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Middle/High School Science Teacher for an immediate start. The teacher will inspire students in grades 6–12 through engaging lessons, hands-on experiments, and a strong college-preparatory curriculum. Responsibilities: Plan and deliver lessons aligned with ABS curriculum and learning objectives. Foster curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking in the classroom. Differentiate instruction to support students of varying abilities. Design and assess labs, projects, and assignments with timely feedback. Maintain accurate student progress records and communicate regularly with parents. Ensure safe use of laboratory equipment and conduct risk assessments for experiments. Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and school initiatives Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field (Master’s preferred). Valid teaching license/certification. Minimum 2 years of successful science teaching experience. Strong classroom management and communication skills.
