Role Overview
We are seeking a Teamlead Accounting to support the Head of Finance and ensure that day-to-day accounting operations for our German entity (GmbH) run smoothly and in full compliance with HGB (German Commercial Code). In this role, you will ensure accurate bookkeeping, timely month-end close, and reliable reconciliations, while leading a team of 2-3 accounting professionals. This position reports to the Head of Finance.
Your Tasks
Financial Management and Reporting (GmbH / HGB)
Own the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing in compliance with HGB Verify and post payroll journal entries Manage intercompany reconciliation and fixed asset accounting Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies Take ownership of core finance systems (NetSuite, Spendesk ) at GmbH level and continuously optimize processes wherever possible, leveraging AI-supported tools Handle standard bank account setups and support the Head of Finance on cash management topics Compliance
Prepare and ensure timely submission of all relevant filings, such as VAT returns and Bundesbank Z4 reports Support corporate tax and trade tax filings at GmbH level Support external audits and respond to auditor documentation requests Maintain internal controls and documentation for operational accounting processes Team Coordination (Team of 2-3)
Hold full personnel responsibility for the team, including performance reviews, feedback, and disciplinary matters Lead and coordinate the daily work of a team of 2-3 accounting professionals, acting as first point of contact for operational questions Onboard and train new team members on processes, systems, and internal conventions Provide day-to-day guidance and quality review of team output
Your Profile
Certified Bilanzbuchhalter (German Certified Accountant) or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field Solid knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, ideally with first team coordination experience Practical experience with ERP systems, ideally NetSuite Native/fluent German and good business-level English Strong Excel skills Strong affinity for AI and modern automation tools, with a genuine drive to maximize automation in accounting

Role Overview
We are seeking a Head of Accounting to own Accounting, ERP, and Compliance for our German entity (GmbH), operating at eye-level with the Head of Finance, while also covering selected group-level (Konzern) accounting topics. In this key leadership role, you will drive accurate financial reporting, risk management, and process improvement, lead and develop a team of 2-3 accounting professionals, and support strategic decision-making including group restructuring and financing initiatives.
Your Tasks
Financial Management and Reporting (HGB & Group)
Oversee the GmbH's HGB-compliant financial records and ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Own selected group-level ( Konzern ) accounting topics, including cross-entity consolidation input, group restructuring bookings, and intercompany matters spanning multiple entities Review intercompany account reconciliation and fixed asset accounting prepared by the team Take full responsibility for cash management and bank account setup, including all related compliance requirements Strategic Support and Process Optimization
Improve ERP (NetSuite) booking processes and ensure a fast month-end close Optimize workflows and act as system owner for Spendesk and the month-end reconciliation tool Bring strong AI affinity to the role and actively drive maximum automation of accounting processes using AI-supported tools Evaluate and implement financial software solutions and automation tools Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures aligned with German standards Support budgeting and forecasting processes, providing variance analysis and strategic insights Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure full compliance with German tax regulations, including VAT, corporate tax, and trade tax filings Support external audits, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies Implement and maintain internal controls and risk management procedures Ensure adherence to data protection regulations (GDPR) in financial processes Leadership and Team Management (Team of 2-3)
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 2-3 accounting professionals Establish clear performance objectives and provide regular feedback and coaching Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the accounting department Oversee recruitment, training, and professional development of accounting staff Cross-functional & Group Collaboration
Partner with senior leadership to support strategic business initiatives, including corporate restructuring and financing Collaborate with international and group finance teams to ensure consistent practices across entities Provide financial expertise for business development, investment decisions, and M&A activities Support M&A activities and due diligence processes as needed
Your Profile
Bilanzbuchhalter (German Certified Accountant) or Master's degree in Accounting , Finance, Business Administration, or related field Expert knowledge of German GAAP (HGB); working knowledge of consolidation concepts at group level Minimum 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role Deep expertise in German accounting standards (HGB) and tax regulations Proven experience managing and developing accounting teams, including leads/managers Proficient in running finance ERP systems Native/fluent German and business-level English proficiency Advanced Excel skills and financial modelling capabilities Strong affinity for AI and modern automation tools, with a genuine drive to maximize automation in accounting
Must have
Experience in multinational corporations or German subsidiaries of international companies Background in the technology/software industry, understanding of license revenue recognition and deferrals, SaaS companies. In combination with former experience from BIG4 (Manager level) would be an advantage. Experience with NetSuite or other cloud-based ERP systems Strong project management and change management skills Experience with digital transformation and accounting automation
Nice to have
CPA, ACCA, or other international accounting certification Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP for consolidation purposes Excellent communication and presentation skills for senior stakeholder engagement Experience with debt refinancing, corporate restructuring, or group financing projects
